The Boss is Back! 2012 Boss 302
#161
WOW
I've been in love with the boss 302 since I was a kid and as a teenager I bought a 70 fastback to make a clone out of but wound up selling it. I've been waiting a long time for a new version to be built and it's finally here. It's awesome! Hats off to Ford. I've been totally stoked about the new 5.0 and was waiting to see if there would be a Boss and here it is and even better than I imagined..

Wouldn't be shocked at any sticker price because you know the dealers WILL add handily to that amount. UGH.
I like the mechanicals, do not care for the limited (and IMO some rather odd) color combinations. Looks like the Boss 302 LS is the spiritual successor to the '00 Cobra R. For example: Big front splitter guaranteed to get destroyed if driven in the real world? Check. Recaro front seats and rear seat delete? Check. Brake cooling package? Uh-huh. Bigger rear wing? Yup, got that too - though not quite as tall. Still, good job Ford for actually bringing something like this to market. <--- what most people who overestimate their cars' performance will be doing shortly after meeting the Boss on the road or track.
Seriously want to see how fast this thing runs on the track and on a drag strip. Don't care about pricing information because the local dealers here will do their best to make it unobtanium for mere mortals = anyone not cross-shopping GT500s, Corvettes, or exotic cars.

Anyone else think its midly amusing that the stock spoiler on this monster is the base model v6 unit?
I like the torsen lsd&recaros being packaged together but to me the rear seat delete should be a part of that package to I mean come on if you track the car enough to need those recaros you don't give a **** about rear seat passengers
I am really curious to see how these sound real world as I understand it that side exhaust is actually functional with the intent that track guys would remove it and replace it with something like electric cutouts right? I wanna hear what is sounds like just going thru the side pipes
I know its off topic but man if you could get those recaros with the rear seat delete in a perf pack v6 with a few of the other things thrown in like the brembos and suspension bits, ad direct injection some freer flowing mufflers&a better factory tune for say 330-340hp wow what a track car that would be at around 3500#s it would shock a lot of people

I saw this picture, and the Kona/White stang on the left almost looks Black/silver and I thought how awesome it would be if Black/silver were offered.
IMO, they have one good color combination offered so far (black on orange). Perhaps Performance white will be good too.

Any word on how many of these Ford is capped to produce each year?

Also is the front body kit necessary for aerodynamics? I don't like the way it looks...but its probably necessary for performance. Not sure i'm crazy about the over the top orange accents would like to see a normal boss 302 that is not so over the top

ok actually reading the thread i think anybody who wants sync or a vert (like myself) would be buying this car for the wrong reasons. Its clearly strictly for the track and performance but i'm not crazy about the exterior color options
