A rear shock tower brace or even something built into the rear seatbacks could add rigidity as well.

excuse the roughness, but for illustrating the mechanism's sake..
If you remove the ability to fold down the seats, what's the point of a hatch back?

Many coupes including the current Mustang will let you fold down the rear seats. But you're still limited in just what you can fit in. If it were a hatchback with the glass sloping all the way back to the tail, you could fit much larger items in than you currently can. Granted, the Mustang isn't built for hauling large amounts of cargo, but it's still nice to be able to carry stuff on occasion. Even though the Fox body Mustang was substantially smaller than the current one, I could carry more stuff in my 1987 than I can in my 2011.

I guess I didn't clearly illustrate what I was thinking about. I don't think a brace in that area means fold down seats are impossible. You can build strength into the frame of the fold down mechanism. You can even have a brace that flows into the trunk structure below the seat that might still allow the seats to fold. You could even have a brace that folds along with the mechanism (even though that would obviously have rigidity issues when you have the car full of cargo, but most folks also won't be stressing the limits of what the chassis is capable of when theres something occupying that space.

I'll try to draw something up later, for now, many homeworks

Right, my point was that if he added a structural brace behind the seats they would no longer be able to fold down. And if they can't fold down, then the addition of a hatch adds very limited increase in functionality. He later clarified that the brace he had in mind would not preclude the seats folding.

One complaint about the current interior is the HVAC and Audio controls being too far from the drivers reach...the prototype has positioned these higher on the cobbled together dash

Which makes me think the attached picture that this could be the 2015 Mustang interior setup

I've heard nothing but bad things about the capacitive slider controls currently used in Lincolns. It seems to be very hard to change the volume, fan speed or temp by just a small amount.

Capacitative slider control technology still sucks in most cars that have them. Unless they get them to the sensitivity that smartphones have achieved, I prefer my manual ***** please.

Thinking of 2015.

I'm thinking about trying to get a 2015 mustang. I wish it would look more like this...

At the moment I have a new edge that I won't let go of. Bc where ever I go it must be in a mustang

I've seen a few renderings lately, including the orange C&D one above, that appear to be missing the signature slanted vertical line for the hockey stick. I hope this doesn't end up being true on the real 2015.
