2013 MY refresh
That makes sense. GM is letting the ATS spy shots leak out more and more as the car nears completion.

At the moment, I'd settle for something -- anything! Of the 2013 Mustang, we only have a handful of spy shots, the last of them appearing weeks ago!
Do we think there are going to be any kind of updates to the chassis or wheel offsets for 2013? I am pretty much locked on getting a 2013 but would like to get winter tires/rims for my 2010 for this winter and keep them for the 2013 i want to get next spring. If i got winters that will clear the current brembo/GT500 brakes do we think will i be safe for a 2013 GT with brembos or 2013 GT500?
Design patents
Ford is most likely patenting the design aesthetic. We do the same thing at the company I work for. In the past we have had problems with Chinese manufacturerers in particular literally copying the aesthetics of our designs. The design patent gives us some recourse to keep these products from being sold in countries that recognize these patents. It's not 100% effective but it does help. A few years back I recall seeing some pretty blatant automotive copies coming out of China as well. If I remember correctly Jeep, Mercedes and Rover all had to deal with it to some degree. Anyway patenting the design has become pretty common place as a added measure of protection for the products a company produces.

Twas a red one, sir. Had a Nurburgring sticker on the back and Michigan plates (lol).

Take a close look at the rear of the red car and draw your own conclusions. The black car in the AB spy shots is also sporting some grille mods, but the rear of the red car is what I feel is worth discussing (among other things), though it is nice to see Ford is testing the Mustang on the Nordschleife. Now, it is entirely possible that these are drivetrain mules for the next-gen car and not related in any way to the 2013 updates, but I still felt it was worth mentioning them.

I know it is difficult to wait but, Ford doesn't want to cause anymore damage to the remaining 2012 stock that is still left on lots. If customers see the new Mustang they will instantly turn their noses up at the remaining Mustangs. The model will go public next month, this leaves only about a month for Ford to fulfill remaining 2012 orders and sustain sales throughout the winter... Sales are naturally low during the winter, no need to add a compound sales conflict. Not only are they currently competing with the Camaro and Challenger, they would also be competing against their 2013 Mustang.

I know that.............doesn't make me any less patient though
Besides, the new car is unlikely to hit dealer lots until March next year, so still 5 months to shift those '12s. There will always be those that don't know there's a refresh coming, or just can't wait.
Just looking forward to a few decent shots of the new cars sans cladding and just the cow-camo paintjobs. Overboost has said they're out there but it's ironic that the most spotted of all new Mustangs isn't spotted when someone has a camera to hand
