I got lucky. Found just what I wanted in feburary. I was looking for white or silver CS with Nav and found a 11 Ingot Silver CS/GT in NY state with only 6k on it and garaged kept. And Im so happy I found with the silver. What you want is out there you just have to be patient and keep looking. You being from Canada I guess limts you some. But look into geting one sent up there. Again good luck

The one question that I have about this is once I get a Boss 302 I know I would have to change out the radio and would like to keep it with the Shaker unit as I love it in my V6.

My question is, would you be able to use a shaker headunit that would work with the factory navigation buttons but use a portable GPS unit like a garmin or a tom tom or whatever and place it in the opening of the screen.

Like use the shaker unit as the stereo and still use the factory buttons below but in the place of where the navigation screen put in a portible GPS unit.

Found this. I know there were many that were complaining about the Metra and Scosche kits having the double din too low. This looks interesting.

This is interesting. I like the factory controls at the bottom but I wish it were one flat front. Where did you find this at?

Hi there!

Ya, I am finally moving forward again after a couple of failed restarts and realizing life goes on regardless of what cards we are dealt. My son would want me to go on so I do.

I saw your post and thought I would lend a hand. My old go to guy is the man and if there was a way to do this I know you would have pursued this from start to finish. Just thought I would facilitate, sorry I did not have better news.

Good to see your still here and I wish you good luck on your latest Mustang Quest!

With aftermarket, there is a sync module that I need to buy, as I understand it. All sync functions will then be retained. Even steering sheel controls will be retained.

Even so, the aftermarket unit would not use the OEM microphone, or the USB, Aux and SD card jacks.

Is that correct?

Its a custom, but I found it intersting that he was able to mount the double din up high when many said that it could not be done.

I found it at allfordmustangs

Have you guys seen this?

I love it. If only he could do it for a glass roof car!

Just e-mailed the fellow.

He's looking at doing something for a convertible and glass roof car. Right now there is nothing since the climate controls and radio controls are moved to the roof of the car. He needs to come up with a solution as to were to put the controls otherwise.

He did say that Apple is coming out with a 7" Ipad, and that may work in a double din slot.

I found the thread at allfordmustangs,http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...-dash-kit.html This was a custom unit for a 2010 Mustang. I'm not sure when they changed the stereo but this could be why the unit can sit at the top.

Personally i like the custom unit with the factory controls, ***** etc, at the bottom. I would prefer it to a be a flat front and not the cut-in so to speak that you see here

Its official. Banks won't give Canadians a loan to buy an American car.

Sucks. Much better selection south of the border.

Looking at the wiring diagrams, I am seeing that even though the plug in connectors are the same, the wires don't all go to the same pins in a nav car vs a non nav car.

May explain why dmhines didn't have all the buttons working as they should when he plugged in the nav FCIM.

I don't have all the wiring diagrams I need, but I just picked up a manual online. When it gets here, I'll be able to have a much more detailed look.

Just from what I have so far, there is a different mounting bracket. The amps are different.

The smart jucntion box and the sync module 'may' be different, but I'll confirm that soon.

I'm going to wait a few weeks. if nothing comes up, I'm going to offer $28 000 to these guys for this car. Assuming they still have the car. (if not, then it wasn't meant to be.)

Love the colour and the roof. Then I'll either fly over and drive it back or just ship it to me in Alberta.

the only way to get what you want is to order one. by the time you drive halfway around the world then try to retro options it does not have.it seems to me you would end up spending the same money for a new one and have what you want, plus the financing is better on new.

I have looked into this.

Not even close. $28 000 ($31 000 after taxes and it is shipped to me) vs $46 000 for new. Not even in the realm.
