You might try zeroing the idle with the black key. Its listed in the directions. The idle varies pretty much every time. Sometimes its far more aggressive than others. You just can't compare it to some other cam tunes which are pretty loud and pronounced. Most are louder because they require you to run catless.

When I was telling a coworker about the smell, he recommended a fuel additive that scents your exhaust. Lopey idle that smells like rootbeer. That would be interesting. LOL

Well it is done. Got it installed yesterday. Haven't got to play with it a lot yet, but I am impressed. Noticed immediate change in the pedal response. Really like the loppy idle.

While I had it in the shop I also had the dealer install my Boss Side Pipes complete with QTP cutouts and the wireless control. Over all it turned out to be a little pricey, but I am glad I got it done. The loppy idle does sound awesome with the Boss Side pipes fully open. So far extremely happy I pulled the trigger and did it all... More to come as I do some experimenting.

Congrats! Still jealous you have the side exhaust too.

How much did the dealer end up charging you to do the pipes and cutout? Probably extortion prices. For some reason their quotes for exhaust work are generally ridiculous.

I may have asked this in another thread, but how do you like the cutouts? I feel like they are a little gimmicky, but it would be a lot easier than having to change restrictor plates before you go on a trip, etc.

So a guy posted his dyno numbers with a Lund tune and then the Track Cal tune. Wanna guess which one was less than a HP higher?

1, 2, 3 are Lund, bottom 4, 5, 6 are Track Cal

Here were the mods.

Kooks super street shorty headers, JBA 3" H-pipe, borla s-types, 85mm throttle body, roush open air cai, airaid modular intake tube.

He's stationed here in Germany. I don't know what type of dyno it was but it was same day. One after the other.

Hmm, if those are "tune required" mods it might be smart to stay away from the track cal.

BTW, I am getting similar numbers on the dyno with the TracKey (394/350) but the real game changer is the +20 lb-ft of torque throughout the powerband. Peak numbers don't really show that.

Did you mean the first three pulls were Lund and the last 3 were TrackCal?
HTML Code:
Pull HP / Torque
---------------------
Lund tune
001 391.94 / 380.34
002 393.17 / 377.86
003 391.76 / 377.97

Average: 392.29 / 378.72

TrackCal
004 393.33 / 384.74
005 389.03 / 382.78
006 383.79 / 378.90

Average: 388.72 / 382.14
Given the numbers are close, it makes me wonder if the Lund tune was done before all those mods were added or without factoring them.

My rational:
The Lund tune would be able to get the most out of the header swap and intake. Possibly squeeze a bit more with the throttle body. I believe they will take a list of all your mods and spit out a set of tunes for you.

The TrackCal on the other hand is a canned tune for 91+ octane tuned against the stock airbox using a high flow filter (K&N). No more, no less.

There are a lot of variables we don't know, but I would have expected the Lund tune to be push a decent amount more.

Edit:
Meant to include that none of those mods require a tune.

The runs are numbered. I'm not sure on the specifics because I wasn't there. He's on a Mustang page here in Europe. There's only so many of us.

Track cal runs on 91 and anything higher than 91.

So I can still run the Trac Cal and 93 then and will be fine? That would be great.

91 is ok or 93 is better.
Note that Ford Racing says it is a good idea to put an oil separator on since the Coyote motor does send a bit of oil vapor back into the intake. Apparently the oil vapor has the effect of decreasing the octane reaching the cylinders.
So if no oil separator then definitely 93.
There is only one station near me with 93 and I make the extra drive to fill up with the 93 Shell.
i have never noticed any pinging even prior to my install of the oil separator on 91 or 93 but some have. I am not a believer in all gas is the same. The additives are put in at the terminal loading rack for the different brands. A good additive package makes a difference.

Todcp is spot on. Usually the next question is which oil separator to use. There are many threads in this forum on this. I went with JLT. For what it is worth. It catches oil very well. IMHO..

I was the same as you, but now that they are in I am glad I did it. It is really nice to be able to variably control the output through the side pipes. They are a bit $$$, but I am glad I put them on and worth it to me. I also like the wireless control option. Did not want to punch a hole somewhere for the switch or tear the car apart. Swapping out the restrictor plates until I got the right one was not my idea of fun. With the cutouts I can change the flow on demand. Glad I did it.

They did the Trackey tune, pipes and cutouts all at once. Quoted 1 - 1 1/2 hours for key, 2 hours for pipes and 1 hour for cutouts. Mainly to cable and installl switch. Ended up with about a 5 hours of shop charge. If I had a lift would have done it myself, but figured if Ford did it no excuse on warranty. Was a little spendy.
