![Question](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Just finished the install, took 3 hours but the boot actually only took 5 minutes. I was shocked, guess I was just lucky. I however have one question, I have one grey plug that I can't seem to find a connector for it. I don't remember disconnecting it. I have a GT premium. Any ideas? Its not the ambient lighting, could it be an extra one?
Feels great with a slight increase in tranny noise. Best performance mod so far with seats a close second.

After dealing with that stick in a marshmallow stock shifter for too
long I ordered an MGW shifter in December 2011. Another problem I had
was the ease of shifting into reverse at stoplights. It seemed like
the detent was not 'detenting' enough to keep reverse locked out.
This weekend I installed the MGW shifter and heat shield. Time was near
4 hours from cramped conditions due to 'inflation' of the midsection.
Toughest part for me was the boot as my fingers and hands were 'tired'
at that point.
I did see that the plastic reverse detent was worn on the stock shifter body.
Coupled with what I perceive as a weak spring, reverse was just too easy
to engage.
Noted increase in structure born N&V. No complaints as I expected this
from the harder mounting. There is increased air born N&V and it has to
be that boot to floor panel connection. I will have to recheck this
weekend as it is likely I do not have it completely inserted. That
bottom right corner is tight.
I find the MGW spring to be just fine. No plans to take out one of
the metal tips. And now, no longer do I hit the 3-5 gate or go
from 2 to 5 when intending for 3! The morning cold weather grind is
lessened but still present. Reverse takes a conscience effort to engage.

Put mine in last week as well and I agree with all you said. I dynomated the hell out of the console and under body but still NVH. This is where the GT500 AB with no resonators come in handy as well as the Shaker 500

Wow, this thread is still alive! LOL...
I was just driving Marilyn into work today, and I was just thinking how much I love my shifter. Then I read this thread, so I thought I'd chime in again of how the MGW shifter (in addition to a decent exhaust, like my GT500's or others) just makes for a very pleasant and stress relieving driving experience
