Official Bullitt Release & Pix!

If I break down and buy a GT this will be it. The improved seats, gearing, exhaust, and suspension tuning will be worth the difference on their own and would easily cost as much if offered as an option. (GT500 seats in a GT trim car is a year overdue IMO) The Highland Green paint and myriad other small improvements are all gravy. This is a package that improves the basic GT pakage in several ways, and for very little dough.
The only changes I would seriously consider are a SGT/CS front fascia, a slightly larger seat of TT wheels, and better brakes depending on how much of an improvement Ford's change has wrought.

+1! It looks like a V6 with a custom paint job, not an SE. The only good thing about it is that it has SUCH a sleeper look that it shouldn't attract too much attention from LEOs. They'll think you're in a rental.

not sure if its been said or not, but the first "bullitt" was just a stripped DGH fastback with a 390. i guess ford is just keeping with tradition.
not sure if i would drop the extra $$'s unless i had a 68 and a 01 setting in my garage for a set!

It's like comparing the GT 500 to the Shelby GT on MSRP. In reality The GT 500 has typically gone for thousands over while recently the Shelby GT has gone for thousands under MSRP.
As far as why anyone would want a Shelby GT over this...Personally, I think the 08 SGT Coupe is the best looking S197 I've seen. Others will think the same thing about the Bullitt (I also think it's a great looking car). It's just comes down to what appeals to the individual.

Many of you are mistaking a "tribute" car with a "replica" car.
As someone mentioned early- Ford didn't hype this car- YOU guys did. You turned it into something that was NEVER going to live up to expectations.
And yet we've known for months what it essentially was going to be. We saw the order codes- we knew how it was equipped. We knew the outside was going to be understated.
And this car is exactly what we knew it was going to be.
You've only got yourselves to blame for being disappointed.
Everyone was worried about the price. I'll bet 95% of you would never have believed that all these upgrades were only going to cost you $1900!
It's one of the biggest bargins in the autoworld!!
I love my 05 GT- but I'm ordering one of these and will be completely satisfied. Job well done Ford!

I would have liked a regular medallion on the trunk, and the same emblem from 01 on the upper left hand corner like the GT500. That's about all I have. The rest of the car is done almost exactly like the 01. Mild engine mods, slight supension work and most of the upgrades in the interior. Those exhaust pipes look killer!! If my 05 wasn't paid off and I wasn't in the market for a house then I'd get one seeing as though it is one of the cheaper SE's. Ford knows people are going to do most of there own mods. That being said, that's why the package is somewhat inexpensive. I really like fact that Ford put the GT500 steering wheel. That is probably the biggest tribute to Steve Mcqueen. I actually really like the interior!!

I like it... it is what it is... regardless of what other people wanted it to be.
For what you pay for (ADM not withstanding) you get a great car.
If i didn't have an S197 already or wasn't waiting on the redesign/return of the 5.0...I'd get one.
The front grille really does look blank though....
Without any vents to even out the preasure, i'm sure thats the reason for the ultra blocked out grille. (just like on the GT/v6)
To avoid lift and control airflow into the engine compartment. Without the fogs it looks weird, nothing to hide the blocked parts of honeycomb.
With that engine/spark management system...is the 315hp rated on premium fuel or standard 87 octane?
Cool that it can automatically sense and adapt. Would be curious to see on a dyno how much it changes exactly.

I had to join to ask this question that is killing me... why are the back windows on each side just a window? Are they not going to have that grill type cover like the original? I saw the MSNBC test drive this am on TV & it had it on, but all the pics I see here are clear windows.... I cannot believe they won;t have them! Anyone know???
#215
That's the new design of the Mustang. It's basically a safety issue. There would be a huge blind spot if they covered the quarter windows. You can get louvers in the aftermarket for about $200.

I would have love to have seen a chin spoiler and bullit seats. Other than that it is exactly what the 01 was. I think the 2008 didn't take as well stylistically as the sn95 version did because it is not as agreesive in the styling. Me personally, this version is a great value for the price, but I think people would have paid more, for more content.

For what it is, as an individual car, its okay, but for the bullit, it's a little lacking. I wouldnt buy it, but I like a few of the ideas, the color, and the grill, the rear emblem is pretty cool.

100% agree. The Shelby's suspension is too harsh, the grill is cheap, the scoop is cheap & cheesy, the stripes are cheap, etc.
