Airbag Recall
Every time I take it in for service they mention the recall and that they will do it while it's there. Any every time I pick it up they say they don't have the parts. I knew that already!
Just got a letter from Acura for the wife's TL. Pretty much the same as the Ford notice: "Yeah, we know. No, we don't know when the parts will be in, maybe summer. Don't call us, we'll call you." The urgency is underwhelming-from both companies. At least I got a summer repair estimate out of them. Better than Ford in that aspect.
I have 3 recall notices (2 for our Ranger and 1 for my Mustang), and only 1 letter that states parts are available (one of the airbags for the truck, but not both)... Luckily, I don't drive either all that often, but still, there are millions that do!
Honda may be in more trouble............

Honda, Takata Attempted An Undisclosed Fix On Airbags: Report
Not to add fuel to the fire... Got this air bag inflator in my parts shipment last week. I think they drove over it. Either with a fork lift or the delivery truck. Another customer waiting a little longer for their recall repair...
A friend of mine told me today that he has been looking at '11-'14 Mustangs and a few dealers have told him they won't sell any of them due to the open recall. Is this really a thing? Is anyone else experiencing this? These dealers are going to have cars sitting on their lots for a LOOOONG time....

Along with every other Takata airbag equipped vehicle. A number Takata estimates at worst could be almost 300 million vehicles and cost $24 billion.

The parts are readily available for Lexus but it is a Corporate rule that you cannot sell a vehicle with a open Campaign. New or used. We recently had new inventory grounded for about 6 weeks until parts became available.

I'm a Hillbilly and the bearing company i worked for 'Never' let the 'low bidder' supply more than 45% of the parts we needed. This was done to cover our butts, if one company went on strike or went out of business etc. Car makers must not do this
This is officially the worst nightmare for not only Takata, but the entire automotive industry. This recall could span up to 287 MILLION vehicles.

The ONLY reason why she died was the shrapnel hitting her neck. She had no other injuries.
