One year later the v6 was pumping almost identical track numbers as the big v8 for thousands less, better fuel mpg and lower car insurance. Ford did an awesome job. Heck the v6 family car Fusion is pumping 263 hp. That's awesome.

The 2011 v6 has the same carryover driveshaft from the '05-'10 4L v6
Weather or not this is a fail on Ford's part is up to each person to decide.
Facts are: 4.0 > 3.7
Engine: 210hp, 240 Torque > 305hp, 290 Torque
Transmission: 5 spd > 6 spd
Driveshaft: same 3.5" single (floating stamped two piece) shaft
Rear Axle: 7.5" std diff > 8.8" locking
Exhaust: Single > Dual
Front Brakes: 11.5" > 12.4"
Speedometer: 120 mph > 160 mph
^ so what's wrong with this picture?
as for this, I don't think so, more like 1986 and prior, this was settled 2 yrs ago when it came out, while it's a great all-around car it can't match the torque of the V8

The new v6 doesn't compare to the new V8's but most certainly does compare to the older V8's, 2010 and prior.

I guess having 168MPH speed rating tires on a GT whose top speed is 160 is also false advertising.
This reminds me of the person who sued McDonalds because their coffee was hot and it didn't say that on the cup.

Ford should go back and give the v6 a 120 stock speedodometer if the vehicle is not capable of driving safely at faster speeds. Ford changed the speedodometer because it wants to market and advertise the v6 more of a true sports car like the Gt.

Take the old v6 to the old Gt. The best driver in the world couldn't come close to the Gt. Times have changed my friend. New breed of v6. As far as sound, Rubbish. I have a Flowmaster exhaust system and they sound just as loud as any stock older v8. Easy fix for sound.

I Have No Life
Im just saying that the printed speed odometer is a form of advertisement and it doesn't represent a factual maximum speed of what the car can do. I think its a cheap marketing and advertising trick that Ford uses to get people thinking the car is more capable of what it actually is. Its a form of advertising and it just gives false impressions about the vehicle.
If my 2011 stang can only go 115 safely then just have a stock speed odometer that reads 115. I had a 1993 v6 Camaro and that too had a speed governor on it. The top speed was around 115 and so the speed odometer read 115. One never got the impression the v6 could go 140. The Z28 had a speed odometer of 160 or so.
I love my 2011 stang, however im glad I read the mustang forums. If not I would of never known about the speed governor and never known my 305 hp sports car couldn't safely travel faster than my soccer mom Mazda mini van

My Civic feels pretentious going 80 or 90..... I'd never take it to the speeds my speedo limits show. Does that mean EVERY car manufacturer is falsely advertising their speed limits?????
............. I think not. Some common sense goes a long way here.

Kona, you remind me of all those guys who just can never admit they're wrong. I read the thread on the other Mustang site where you keep calling the speedometer a form of advertising. Please stop. It makes you seem uneducated. The speedometer is not advertising. It may be 'indicating' the car can go 160 but it's not advertising ****. Advertising would be to say the car gets 25 mpg. There is no advertisement that says the car can go as fast as what the speedometer indicates.
As for the V6 Mustang, I agree with you. Ford did a great job and to have a V6 car with 300plus horsepower is awesome. I can understand why you're proud to drive it. They're cool cars. However, to say it will hang with the 5.0 with a couple of minor tweaks is ridiculous.

It is, however, a **** good motor and the reason I bought a '11 instead of a '10 or older. When my previous car was in the process of being totaled, I had a '12 V6 rental car and two weeks with it convinced me that I couldn't go buy an older GT that would be about equal in speed but get far worse mileage than this new V6, so I had to spend more than I'd planned and get an '11 GT.

I have a tuner, bama to be exact. I had a 1993 Camaro and the speedodometer reflected as such to the speed governor. By advertising such numbers on the stock speedodometer, many would think the car is capable of doing 135 easy. Its funny how the die hard mustang fans still have the opinion that the v6 is not a real sports car. It's just the daily driver. An imitation of the wanna be V8.
Amazing how prior years 2010 and under Gt's had 300 to 315 hp and that was the true sports car. Now the new stock v6 pump the same or similar hp and track numbers as the older Gt's and yet the the v6 is not the real sports car. Rubbish. The 5.0 is for people who want the extra power over the V6 but make no mistake Ford made the new v6 awesome and powerful. Its a sports car that will hang with any Gt from 2010 and prior.

why are you fighting such a simple idea??? also stop saying people are down on the v6 mustang.. its simply not true. You are using that to keep this thread off topic. Its simply not what a v6 was made to do.
lets make this simple and look at it from ford point of view. They build the V6 to get 31 mpg and added in enough hp to keep up with the camaro. That means they built the V6 to get great mpg not be a top end car. Thats why they made the car unable to go past a set speed. Ford doesnt support people using tuners and modding things on the cars that why it cancels your warranty.
Ford however understands people would be using the GT car for track and other things so they built the car to handle different things. They did not build it to get 31 mpg. You crying about what you are crying about is like the GT guys cry about not getting 31 mpg.
