And you and I both know that that's really saying something!
Sit in the new GT and then go immediately to the 335. The difference in engineering will be easily seem. You might not like the design, but I can guarantee the design and execution is better in the BMW. German's do great work on interior fit and finish.
I'd take a BMW for driving dynamics and Audi's interior. That would be the perfect car!

I agree, the "cheap fun" of the mustang is now gone. Thats not really cheap for what you get. for instance my car
2007 mustang gt premium
-comfort group
-premier trim
-sirius
-spoiler delete
28,895 msrp, granted thats not what i paid for it but still.

i see a couple things here, 3.55 axle, or 2.73 for thatmatter is now 500 bucks as apposed to the 100 i would have had to pay.
isnt the 2008 mustang premium msrp like 26k? so thats hiked 4k more.

lastly, i think this car is now expensive enough that there really should be an IRS in the back. this stinks, now the challenger/camaro are not that much more expensive.

At least, if Ford HAD put the IRS back in the '10 the cost jump could be better defended, IMHO...

BMW needs better cup holders. the rinky pop out holder won't hold a good sized cup. my buddy spilled horchata all over his brand new 5!

just from pics i think this Mustang may have a competitive interior but i got to sit inside one (and believe me i will!). i don't think i'll be disappointed

2008 Premium GT Base MSRP is $27260 without Destination Charge. This was as of 02/21/08. Possibly higher by time production ceased.

well i guess its all how optioned out the car is then. because to think thew new premium gt costs more with nothing added to it than my car cost with all the options i added which was everything but active anti theft, the 100 dollar 3.55 axle upgrade, 18's, and side impact airbags.

if i could do 3.73's (or 4.10's) with a glass roof on a 2011 if the stinking 5.0 engine comes out, then Cheese is talking upgrade. Or if a Boss S/E comes out.

Keep in mind that the new GT gets most of the Bullitt package standard which was a $3,000 option before.

I would say get the glass roof and then change the gears out on your own. Doesn't really make sense why you can't get both from the factory.

Yes...there is....

Ok, I did a little digging in my records and found some interesting things, I pulled out a few of my old window stickers from the new cars I have purchased.

All of these prices are at MSRP of just the Premium Coupe before options:

I bought a new 2004 GT Premium pkg back in 04....

The MSRP for an 2004 PREM COUPE was $24,555.00

4 years later I bought a new 2008 GT Premium

The MSRP for an 2008 PREM COUPE was $27,020.00

Over those 4 years, there was a TON of improvements such as a 40hp bump, new body style, etc, etc....but there was only a price jump of $2465.00 over those 4 years

NOW in only two years the MSRP on a 2010 GT PREM COUPE is $30,995?!?!?!!?

In only two model years (1.5 actual years) the price rose $3975.00

The more I look into this, the more I can't believe it!

There is no justification for that much of a price increase. Especially when you consider the Minor price jump between an 04 and an 08..there were major improvements in all areas...

All we are get with the new mustang are minor enhancements...

They are missing their target consumer by over pricing, and I feel they are going to go the way of the early 2000's Camaro's....

It was said once on here by a member, and I'll say it again. We argued, cried and moaned about having more upscale interior, wanting SYNC, bigger wheels, higher rear axle, etc, but when we get these things (and the interior is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS), people are moaning that the car costs too much!! COME ONE! When you want more equipment, and nicer appointments and materials, it WILL cost more! Its the way its gonna be. I for one am glad they did what they did. I just priced out a 2010 GT Premium, with PTP, Auto and Security and the MSRP is $33,600. X-Plan is just over $31,500. Not too bad for what it comes with.

You're right...we did want bigger wheels, we did want SYNC and we did want higher rear axles...AS OPTIONS...not as a standard package...

Be honest....are you saying that there is a bigger improvement from the 08-10 vs the 04-08?

I remember the ride and feel of my 04, and my 08 is better on all accounts...

But now, the price increase from my 08 is almost $4000.00...are you going to tell me the 10 model has more improvements than from the 04-08 change over?

I X-planed my 08 GT/CS (that I bought this year) with 3.55's and a $1500 rebate for around 26,500...Is that new mustang worth $5000 more...? Not for me...

Good luck....

What are you talking about? Where did I ever mention quality and improvement in regards to model years? All I said, was people are complaining about a price increase. Thats all I was saying.

Well, I haven't sat in the 2010 Mustang, but I've had plenty of peripheral experience with BMWs: driven many, sat in tons (including the current 3-Series) and have a friend with a later model 740i.

And I can state unequivocally that the current 3-Series interior looks and feels low rent to me. Certainly no cheap, hard plastics like our current Stangs, but SIGNIFICANTLY less quality than the 5 or 7-Series...and I suspect probably not quite as nice as the forthcoming 2010 Stang, either.

For those who think the Mustang's price increase will kill sales: Ain't gonna happen.

If anything kills sales it will be this economy.

The 335i that I drove last year had a pretty nice interior. It was very similar to my dad's 545i. No offense, but Lincoln cannot even come close to the base level Bimmers in terms of interior quality. There is no way the new Mustang is even close due to cost and the fact that the 3 series is an entry luxury car.

I don't see anyone complaining. Now that the Mustang costs more, there is more competition. Like I said, I would consider a few other models. Hell, a new Corvette right now looks like a steal to me.

The current 3-Series can IN NO WAY compare to the interior of the Lincoln MKS (having sat in both) or forthcoming MXZ refresh...not even close - and I'm a real stickler for interior quality and the first person to bash Fords for their past efforts. The new MKS interior materials are very nice and first rate all the way through.

I remember thinking what a disappointment the new 3-Series interior was when it first came out. I loved the exterior design of the 335i coupe (still do), but greatly preferred the interior of the preceding generation.

Case in point >>

Sorry, bud, gonna have to disagree with you on this one.
