You can't legislate what people buy, the market decides. Ford, GM, and Chrysler must listen to the market and predict the market, but this "journalist" knows it all!

SHE IS NOT A JOURNALIST.
Letter to the editor from an idiot that doesn't know how many Mustangs are sold per year.

I stand corrected. Although I read it, I didn't read anything else about it.

I think I will keep my eye out for a gently used 07-09 Shelby. Already seeing some action on ebay in the low 30k range. It might just be the right time to finally own a GT500 within the next year

Alas, the nitwits over at Greenpeace would agree.

Everybody's gunning for hi-po cars, we need to do a draft letter to our Congresscritters to ensure that the Mustang has a future, and the Camaro and Corvette, too, lest we have the Democrats do this to us...

What makes this worse is that this is coming from our next president's hometown paper.

This lady is a wack-job!! How did she even get a job as a journalist? I want her email address, so I can email her and tell her just how stupid her idea is? Is she that dumb, and not realize that this car was started back in 2005, and was pretty much finished up about 6 months ago, before gas went crazy. Cancel it now, after the 10s of millions of $$$ were spend! WACK-A-DOODLE!!

Anyone find her email address?

After reading the post above, she's a person who mailed into the Op-Ed! She's still a Crack-pot!!!

Guys, if Rep. Waxman takes over the chairmanship of the House Energy/Commerce Committee, we're screwed. Like I said, we need to collaborate on a letter to our Congresscritters...

Did anyone else notice the recenet dramatic price drop on the '09? I was just looking at the Ford site the other day and the V6 had been starting out at just under $20k and the GT around $27k. They must of dropped them to help move them off the lot.

Also, some folks have mentioned that they got a fully loaded '05 GT for such and such price and how much more it is now. I remember someone saying $26,500, well adjusted for inflation that is now about $4,000 more just from inflation alone. Then factor in all the options that are now available that weren't in '05, i.e. navigation, glass roof, track package, etc...it doesn't become that big of a difference. You also aren't required to get the options, that is why they are options.

Oh nice...she had this reply to all the flames she got for posting her 'article'...

"I'm sorry that so many of you Mustang owners are offended, but the truth is, you're all just angry that you're driving a car with old technology in the modern era."

Uh...yeah lady. I'm so angry I'm gonna go out and pat my new CS on the hood right now.
Dang I love that car!

its still a ways off, and will be ready for 2011MY

The Shelby however, hasn't been shown yet, so ... draw your own conlusions
No new 5.0L for 2010MY
No new SE for 2010MY

New 5.0L for 2011MY
Good chance for a new SE in 2011MY

A 302 5.0L 2010MY from Shelby wouldn't surprise me. Shelby can do whatever they want.

Okay, I recalculated my dream Mustang, a GT Premium with the following options...

43S - Safety Package - $395
51H - HID Headlamps - $525
53B - Comfort Group - $595
58X - DVD Navigation System?Dual Elec Climate Control - $2,195
67T - Track Package (3.73 rear) - $495
77C - Rear Video Camera - $240

With the $850 destination charge 05fordgt is quoting, I came to...

$36,290

Not bad, I can knock off some of that with a trade-in. Is the track package II late availability?

As for the door inserts, what material are they using? I hope they can be removed easily for reupholstering purposes.

Sorry to say, but no. Have to have Navigation for the Dual Zone, as per the order guide.

I was in ford less than a month ago and had a invoice printed out of the car i was thinking about getting and it was for $33,445. I just built the same car on ford.com and it came out to $29,352. Its amazing how much prices have dropped. No wonder why the salesman was pressuring me to sign when i asked about the 2010.

I wish Ford would keep a cheap Base Car. The price creeping up with lots of stuff included in the base car isn't good for someone who wants to add aftermarket stuff himself. The old 65 could be ordered almost anyway you wanted it even radio delete,(i think) and bench seat. That way it would be a true custom ordered car.

So true, but times were WAY different back then. Heck, they had 17 different colors to choose from for a Mustang.

The GT is getting pricey. With the options I want, you are getting in G37, 335i, and Corvette territory. Ford is pushing the Mustang up into tough waters.

Woah, don't go crazy here. Go find a loaded 335i! They aren't mid-30K, as no BMW dealer stocks a basic car. They are mid to high $40K.
