Excluding the glass roof, track pack, 19" bright wheels, and rear video camera, a fully loaded Premium GT will run you over $38K (MSRP). With tax, tags, etc, that's over $40K. Ford just priced themselves out of their target demographic. Geniuses!
Mr. Mullally, we have some lovely parting gifts for you, please exit through the bankruptcy door.

Just for some perspective, here's a comaparison on base prices, I guess the options will make all the difference. If somebody wants to take the time to configure some cars with comparable options, feel free:
V6:
2010 Camaro - $22,995
2010 Mustang - $20,995 ($21,845?)---2009 Mustang - $18,030
2009 Dodge Challenger - $22,445
V8:
2010 Camaro SS - $30,245
2010 Mustang GT - $27,995----2009 Mustang GT - $23,928
2009 Challenger RT - $30,545
Foreign:
2009 Nissan 370Z - $29,930
Edit: I configured my cars, and tried to keep the options as equal as possible: My configured Mustang was $35,270 (with D&D) and change, my configured Camaro was $34,895 (not an official configurer thing, so price here is sketchy), my configured Challenger was $35,275.

Could you also tell us what's in the accessory packages, or is that unknown so far?
I optioned up, based on the price list, a GT Premium with the security pack, HID's, comfort group, nav, track pack, and backup camera and came to about $35,440, give or take. I don't know which color I want, either black or Grabber Blue, but that's the Mustang I want.

New Camaro is looking better and better.
IMO Ford really **** the bed with this. I like the styling, both interior and exterior, but 315hp at 31k + options is WAAAYYY too close to the Challenger SRT8 and Camaro 2SS trim both are north of 400hp, both come with brembos, IRS and a bunch of other goodies.
Let's also not forget a 370Z, 135i which are definately more inline with the HP of the Mustang but they're also far more capable sporty cars.
If the 5.0 adds on another few grand to the base price it will be about the same if not more expensive then the Camaro

This could be a longshot, but could they possibly have raised the price now to be a transition to the 2011 price, in order to soften the price blow that the 5.0 and 6-speed would bring?
