I'm running Mach 1 springs front and rear, and the shocks I have now are blown. The struts seem to be doing alright, but the shocks are toast. I may try to find something used again, but I would rather a new stock replacement than a unknown condition something sporty.
I figured since it was pre-96 it would probably be using R12 still, but if it's already R134A that is good because they have direct kits for that with a gauge and everything.

So far so good. I think that a full day is a fairly good indication that there must have been some other reason it was disconnected other than the core being bad. Keeps me plenty toasty, and does a much better job than just the fan to defrost the windshield.
I want to recharge my A/C now, just to see how it's doing, but I don't think that they sell R12 recharge kits as much as R134A. Regardless I'm starting to want to spoil myself.
I've also got a bit of a rejuvenation itch. I realize now why parts I look at are so expensive... Because I want to buy "performance" parts when I should be looking at replacement parts. I found motor mounts for a grand total of 24 dollars on RockAuto.com which I'm purchasing soon. A transmission mount for 20 more. Stock replacement shocks/struts for 24/40 bucks respectively. All of which should make the car a lot more pleasant. I also saw a timing chain and sprockets for a bit over 30, which is kind of tempting. I guess time will tell what is going to be replaced and what will be left alone, but I'm really hoping I can make the car a bit easier to live with on a day to day basis.

R12 was better, so of course they found something else...my old pickup used R12 and would put friggin ice on the windows!

Our cars are R134A. R12 was a good refrigerant, but it's chlorine content was too high, so they replaced it w R134A, which by the way still has chlorine, only in a smaller dose. Now they are going to change it to CO2 in the upcoming years.

If our cars are 134A I'll be happy with that. I just thought they were R12 for some reason.

But be prepared for anything unexpected, like a blown hose or evaporator core. I've spent close to $600 and it doesn't cool enough. I still need to replace the evap. core That in labor alone will run me over $200

So, I thought that Cobra rear brakes were different than the GT, but it seems like all you need is the bracket, rotor, and anti moan brackets. I'm not really sure why "Cobra" calipers are so expensive everywhere, because they are the same part as the GT unit. Now that I see that it's only 200 bucks... It may be the next thing on my upgrade list.
That, and of course the 4v dohc swap I want to do... But that is a bit further down the road.

I'm really thinking that saving the extra grand or so for a Cobra that has everything already done and exactly where it should be from the factory is probably a good idea too... 96-98 GT's are more expensive than I had thought.

You just have to look around for some time. When I was looking for a Mustang, I spent like six months looking at the local paper & net classifieds and some cars around here, until I narrowed my search to just a few that were in my budget. And that's how I ended up with the teal one.

It did not pass the "Dad approval" because I do not have the money to buy it outright. I understand, though, since he is fairly weary of me taking out a loan. Banks are sharks these days...
Too bad though... Black on black 5 speed 4.6... Would have been fun.
