Is it insane to think I can find a '94 5.0 with a 5-speed for 25 hundred, or less? Color doesn't matter. Interior condition does. I just need a car that will run until I can find enough cash to buy the Daytona Coupe kit (not a body kit full chassis, interior and everything don't worry) that I've been dreaming about. So this will be a daily driver so it can't be something that will break down everytime I bring it out.

I don't need you to find me one, but I want to make an offer and don't want to seem rediculous. Manuals seem to be in short supply and high demand.

So yes, anything that anyone has to add to this would be wonderful, before I rip off Arin's cousin unknowingly.

PS: ARIN'S II IS WAY COOLER THAN MY CAR WILL EVER BE

You might find nice V6 with 100,000+ miles for that kind of money.

Yeah, I need a 5.0 for the kit I want to buy, so if an SN95 can't be bought for this much then I will have to look older.

i don't think you'll be able to find what you're looking for very easily. Unless you really want to wait a while until an incredible deal comes your way, you're probably gonna have to get a Fox, but then you can't get the body kit you want. The least you're going to pay for a '94 or '95 GT in decent condition is most likely closer to $4000.

Like I've said before and Arin clarified it is not a body kit, and I really just need all of the drivetrain and suspension bits. Which is why I'm thinking newer is better. Buying a Fox is definitely not going to be a bad thing I was just hoping for the best 5.0 I can find for the money budgeted to that part of my project.

I have plenty of time so I am not in any hurry unless there is something with the Mustang that I would need to fix before it is ready to be taken apart and put into the Coupe's body (late summer of 08).

I was just trying to get a general idea of pricing, and since I have seen a few (ebay) looking like at or just over that prive it was looking hopeful. I'll see if I can check out the classifieds to see who doesn't know what the Mustang they have is worth. Maybe Craigslist as well could be somewhat helpful. No matter what the case, I was just curious as to the benefits of getting an SN95 in comparison to the old Foxes if any. Suspension? Powerplant? Transmission?

Thanks guys

Well, with regards to SN95s, I know there is an inherent disadvantage to using the later computer, especially if you plan on modding the motor. From what I've heard, most folk lean towards swapping it for the fox computer.

I do imagine that the SN95 had a better suspension than the earlier foxes, but then again, look at the car you're going to have in the end. Either way it's gonna be spectacular.

Hope the more knowledgeable members can help you out some more

PS- Why aren't you on aim

There is no plan to mod the motor in any way. I still have to make a lot of calls to see how the thing can be registered, and so forth. To see if the car that it gets all of it's pieces from can be used as the car it "is". ie have the kit car registered as a 19xx Mustang. That would be wonderful for insurance reasons, but we will see how that goes.

Other than that, maybe I could get the suspension at my uncles junkyard if I can find the right bits.

Oh well, we will see how this all pans out eventually.

And as for how it will turn out in the long run, it will be awesome, won't it?

Think of it like the P4/5 Arin, it has a stock engine, and look how it worked out.

Haha, I guess the Fox is the way to go if you are going to get your hands on it...

And as long as it isn't my cash you are blowing, do as much modifying as you'd like.

Also remember the sn95 has 4 wheel disc brakes... foxes have rear drums..

edit. And because of that they also have 5 lug wheels which you'd want to convert to anyway.

Just curious, but which parts do you have to swap from the stang? Is it just a motor and tranny? or do you need the control arms, suspension, brakes, steering rack, etc...?

I was just curious because I've seen some classifieds for some decent 4.6 mod motors with a lot less miles for a bit more, which included the wiring harness and computer. I looked at FFR's Cobra and it was redesigned to accept the new mod motors, so maybe the Daytona's would too.

Basically the kit comes with everything aesthetic(body lights interior), and the chassis. All the running gear and electric must come from another source (engine trans steering rack axles differentials suspension[all of it]... well everything).

I need the car itself in the interim so that I have something to drive until I buy the kit so having enough to buy the whole thing is a big deal, instead of just buying the pieces I need. I'll probably part out the rest of everything I don't need, and try to get some cash back that way.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it.

Have you thought about a Mark VII? It is identical as far as drive train but you get 5 lug and rear disk brakes. The interior might be your only problem if you must have it for the swap.
