glad you had fun! BTW, don't know about that racing the cops bit - win or lose, rather not have them remember you or your car if they see it out on the street. just in case.

LOL, get a yellow visor for the helmet! j/k

I did get to go on the road course, you get to go on it for your drive to the time slip booth and then back into lanes

Its really only bad because I have to drive through San Fransisco. If you haven't ever driven there you dont know, but it is the worst traffic ever, especially during rush houe. And since school gets out at 2:10, and my helmet didnt get to me till much later, i got stuck in the middle of it.

SF isnt as fun now as it was for Steve McQueen No jumping hills for me

well arin congrats on going to the track.

You do need a bit of practice but it will come with time. looks like you won't need to wear the helmet for quite some time unless they changed the rules recently or you just like wearing it.

what were your 60 ft times?

next time you go don't worry at all about the reaction time. just focus on your launch and shifting.. the reaction has no impact on your elapsed time.

Really? I didnt know that......it must only help to have a fast reaction time if you are racing?

Thanks for the tips Chris. I don't have my timeslips with me (@ work) but heres what i put in the fastest times/highest hp thread. its only one of the slips
R/T......... 0.384
60'..........2.325
330'........6.305
660'........9.580
mph........75.22
1000'......12.367
1/4.........14.749
MPH........94.01

as for launching, i didnt do anything. I just went merrily along as if accelerating from a stop. That might have something to do with my times being so high lol.

also.. I don't know why but everyone at school has been impressed with my 14.75, as i tell them. It might just be that im been the only one whohas ACTUALLY raced his own car. everyone else just talks about doing it, never shows.

lol word spreads fast too. I just got invited to some late night illegal drag racing t'morow night, after word of my infineon adventure spread. I plan on turning it down though, not worth the risk

what gear were you in at the end? the bullitt with stck gearing should be almost at the top of 3rd gear. Don't shift to 4th you will be wasting your time.

My 99GT used to trap 98-99mph completly stock and that was also in 3rd gear still.

I ended in 4th gear

What RPM would be best for shifting at? I shifted JUST short of the redline

also, did you launch at a higher RPM when you were in your 99? Bec I didn't launch any higher than idle, that may be part of it

I tried both ways. The first time i went to the track i didn't launch past idle either.

All my runs were 14.4-14.5 and all were at 98mph.

I used to shift just past 6000rpm. I think shifting to 4th really ruined your times.

One other issue I seemed to have that bugged me was I never knew when I had passed the finish line. I didn't want to brake too soon, but I diddnt want to go out of control trying to stop after either. I probably should have watched a few races first to see, but I just went staright to my prestage lane and didnt bother going in the stands at all to watch, sicnre it was getting late

I feel like a post ***** when i make posts like this but... I love this car!

I got my first kill today, which i mentioned in the poll in the which is better forum. Me and my buddy with the M finally raced, and I pulled away, til traffic came about. we were going to target, he left school before me. i caught him on the road, he passed me, dropped from 3rd to seond and gunned it, scaring my friend, but in a good way lol and when we caught up at the light, there was revving, there wise wheelspin and lots and lots of vroom factor. I backed off a good while away when i saw cars ahead. the extra risk wasnt really worth it. I think I got a better launch on the streets than i did at the track. talk about irony

on that same token, i also want to rave about this cars handling again. I used to be terrified to go into certain turns on woodside road at 35 mph, yet the Bullitt takes them at 55 just fine. its really amazing. note please, that i didnt just whip around woodside at 55 right away. i pushed the car little by little. normal 35 the first time, 40 the next and so on. this car feels more confident about driving those roads than i do. body roll is no longer somethign i experience in excess *cough*mazdarati*cough*cough*

The balance of beauty, comfort, torque, high end power and the fabled "ability to turn" that so many a muscle car lacked is somethign that really makes this car special.

though i did notice that my Mach 460 was acting up today. tried to eject some disks for a friend, kept getting a "CD error". as soon as i drop off my friend and she walks inside, i turn the car back on, try and listen to the radio, it spits the two CDs i wanted out. go figure?!?! (and also ironically enough, the Mazdarati's Cd player never worked unless Cammy, my friend, was there, yet the Mach system only works flawlessly when she isnt. siggghhhh)

oh and in typical graduating senior fashion, the words "EAT MY DUST" are emblazened in orange window paint on my rear window right now. that plus my car # and 14.5 bracket from the track still on the windows makes my car look kinda.. rowdy lol.

whee

Nice! Makes me want a turbo more and more! I have problems with my aftermarket radio. Kept dying on me, then I figured out that I was just stupid! Now it died tonight for no reason for about five minutes.
