Hey Louie, Had the top of my heat shield removed and the hood closes perfectly. I had a local machine shop use a plasma torch to cut the metal. It's thicker than people think.

I got it up to 100 mph this evening and the hood was very stable. I can't wait to get it painted.

Hey Rob, how did you fasten the vents?

I read in another forum at TruFiber will be coming out with the same hood with push and turn hood pins in the next couple of months. I also read they will be making a carbon fiber version. Have you guys heard anything about this?

Willie

I left the vents off for my little test drive...........in reference to the other hood, I know Trufiber has some other projects in the works, but I don't know any details.

I am glad Truefiber has good customer service maybe BMC can take a few lessons from them.

Looks like I still have a 2-3 week wait for my hood to come in according to BMC it is suppose to be shipping to the US now then the customs wait and so on …………..

One thing I did just notice about the hood........the metal mesh inserts in the intakes are pretty soft. One of mine was slightly dented. I just used a pair of needle nose pliers to straighten it. I'm a little worried about hitting a bug at high speeds in the summer time. I gave Phil some feedback on this today and he said it's made that way because some people opt to remove the mesh screens and have smooth open intake vents.........anyone going to remove their mesh screens? Just curious as to everyone's opinions. I personally like the looks of them and think if they are painted black they really match the stock GT500 grill.

i'm pretty concerned about this one myself.
first thing my bodyshop guys said when they saw the mesh was "WTF?"
it's certainly just a matter of time till this gets bent or scratched.. and i can't see how i can fix that without a major surgery.

on another note.. i'm thinking of getting the washer nozzles relocators, rather than drilling and mounting them on the hood.
any thoughts on this?

I just ordered the washer relocators from Ford. Did you see Jeff's (RCFGT500) thread on it? They are actually nozzles from the rear wiper on a 2000 explorer I think. His write up was very helpful. The part number is F87Z17603AA. If you haven't seen his thread you need to check it out.

By the way I paid around $5 for the washer nozzles.

Who did you order through and when did they indicate you would get the hood. What was the sales price if I might ask?

I placed the order with Phil. I did a little work for him so I got a bit of a discount...but I probably shouldn't say how much.

Rest assured though I paid a lot for this thing.

I sent my $200.00 deposit on October 2nd. They asked me to pay in full around the beginning of December. I didn't do it as they were not ready to ship. Still no word on when it will be. Have they actually received a shipment yet? Thanks

Is it just me or does this whole deal with BMC and the full payment up front, very limited or no communication, Folks that ordered from TF already getting thier hoods and those with long standing and PAID orders from BMC being told wait several more weeks....

This all begins to sound of a company trying to hide cash flow problems and getting ready to leave a bunch of us hanging with no money and no hood. I don't know Bruno and have never done business with BMC but I know I don't like how this deal is going.

Phil at TF specificly instructed folks here to place the order through BMC so I feel they are as much on the hook as BMC.

Really think Phil and Bruno need to let everyone know what is really happening. I plan to call Bruno later this week and speak again but can tell you that if the previous 'story' about my being among the Jan shipment has now 'changed' to another month, I will cancel the order and seek restitution through my CC and Paypal.

Sorry but this whole deal STINKS and its mostly a lack of communication and changing stories and a very poor way of handling orders. Its as bad as Shelby Performance.
