I'm curious about that myself, as i certainly need the hood pins!
i have the Shelby pins on my shelby CS6 hood, and wouldn't mind using them again (if they fit).. but i would much rather have the twist style pins for a better matching look.

where can i get the twist style pins to begin with?

This is probably something someone will have to do on their own after they buy the hood. Trufiber would have to have a separate mold to do that and I doubt there will be enough interest to justify the R&D cost. Also not everyone will want the exact hood pin placement. By people doing this mod themselves allows for a little more diversity for each customer. Just my opinion...........for what that's worth.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the KR twist off hood pins are from 71-73 stangs. I don't know who sells them though????

Does anyone who has seen the KR in person know the measurements used to locate the pin placement?

The KR pins are more like the earlier twist pins used on the '68 GT/CS (the 71-73 pins are HUGE by comparison.

Trufiber hoods do not require hood pins....although I agree the twist ones would look cool.

Also, the ones on the KR are slightly recessed...so you might not get that perfect look even if you get the exact ones Shelby used.

Also, Shelby Autos says they will eventually be offering a new version of the twist style hood pins. I guess until then the old ones would still work.

Yep, those are the correct twist lock pins. Now it would be interesting to see if the reciever clasp could be adapted to fit the GT500 or perhaps use the brackets from UPR for hood pins. Those are for a GT though. Anyone been through this and figured out a combo that works? If no one has by the time the hoods are available, I'll likely just order these, the clasp parts for a 68 and the UPR brackets and fab something from there.

Thanks Guy for the link!

By the way, after looking at the pic of those pins, it seems like they have double sided tape that holds it to the hood. I would assume you could just take a hacksaw to them and work out a way to only tape them to the hood without drilling any holes.

I know they would only be for show at that point, but you could get the look you want.

That double sided tape only holds down the large stainless washer-like circular plate that sits between the pin and the hood surface.

Yeah, it still WOULD be possible to cut them up and apply new tape just o the head part, but why would anyone want to? To me that'd be a pretty tacky addition to a great hood. Functional is the way to go....

Agreed....however Trufiber tests their hoods to like 120 mph and they say there is no need for hoodpins like with other brands. So functional hoodpins aren't necessary.

i'd still be a lot more comfortable having pins on.. seeing that 120mph is almost reached on a daily basis in my car here :S

i think the twist locks on the GT500KR look quite alright, if we can get something to fit as nicely in, without sticking out

Codeman94........................Great idea.....................now you just need to start some R&D and make these closable heat extractor vents.

Just to make sure I order here:

Is this correct or do I need to order elsewhere? I'll need it pretty quick once available.

Thanks Mike

BMC told me when I placed my order that if all stayed on schedule it could be sometime in December but could be put off until January if there were any tooling or production problems/delays.

I would get in on this now and save the $100.00 to put towards painting, it won’t be produced in as high of volume as the GTS2 because there is not that many GT500 or GT500 conversions are out there.

Boy do I hate the wait but I am excited to get this hood!
