I would have gotten the Trufiber SS hood but I'm getting the one straight from Shelby. I need a hood now because I was in an accident and I cant wait. Looks good though!

This one is similar in design to the GT500KR, not the Super Snake (there are differences between the two, such as the center divider and the way the raised part is shaped at the sides.

Nevermind, I see now. The only difference I could tell was the splitter is out further in the center of the scoop. The SS still has one but its further in. I'd like either hood actually. Only think I like more about the SS is that it has the black aluminum vents.

Have they released the SS hood? When I talked to them last week they said realistically it would be early 08 before it was available to the public.

They are still working on the 40th Anniversary cars. The GT500 KR’s wont be hitting the streets until Spring 08 if they stay on schedule.

The Super Snake project is scheduled to begin late November. They have only built two Super Snakes, the 700+ HP concept cars (red) and the 600HP concept car (Grabber Orange).

In Shelby's Winter catalog, it lists for $849.95 unprepped, $1,099.95 prepped and primed. The required louvers are extra at $149.95 per pair. Shipping not figured into the preceding.

That’s still lower than the $1800.00 they had originally priced it for.

I wouldn’t waste the extra money on the prepped hood knowing first hand that with Shelby’s fiberglass quality you will still need to tweak the hood once it’s on your car.

lol, the SS and KR hood are the same hood guys, with different paint schemes, you guys are funny. The notch is still there, it's just flat black and hard to see. the screens on top ARE part of the hood, just unpainted. The edges are just as smooth on both. this crazy guy was just looking at two different pics. I assure you, it's the same. Ford wouldn't waste all the money retooling for such subtle differences when the same effect could be achieved with paint.

I have seen both hoods in person and the differences are real and there.

Ford didn’t do the tooling or production for either hood Shelby did and they have stated that the hoods are different for a reason. Catch up on your reading here http://forum.shelbyautos.com

Exactly. The KR hood was already tooled and finished while Amy B from Shelby was giving all of us the runaround about this new "better" SS hood that would be made available to the public. The angles are way off, the vents are totally different, and are INDEED separate from the hood. The Shelby catalog even has them listed as separate items for sale.

All you have to do is look at the edges of the scoop or the rear section of the hood by the windshield to see that the KR hood and the SS hood are TOTALLY different hoods.

Digital, you are probably thinking the hoods are the same because of the photoshopped picture of the SS that was just a KR pic with different colors.

Here is a little refresher on the hood differences.

According to Shelby’s parts manager the SS hood can be purchased through Shelby and the KR Hood will have to be purchased through Ford.

You are quite wrong. The SS and KR were parked side by side at the Mid America Shelby meet in Tulsa and the differences are not subtle when seen in person. The KR hood flows with the body lines and the rear is finished. The SS hood has sharp agressive angles that do not mesh well with the body lines. The center scoop strut is different as are the sides of the nostrils shape. The rear edge is completly different as are the vents. The SS hood looks like a cheap fiberglass knock off of a great design..... They are VERY different hoods.

I appreciate the info and pics on these hoods, but this was discussed to death under the Shelby KR thread. Shelby can stuff both of those hoods up their a$$ sideways for all I care. Trufiber came to our rescue and I'm glad to be doing business with them.

There is no denying what Shelby has done for the Mustang and I respect that, but I won't spend any money with them after they gave us the runaround on the hood.

Hey Phil............we still lookin at mid December on the Venom hood??????
