SHELBY Letters

[QUOTE=G.T;5499678]you got it

Nicel car you got there, I´m thinking of doing the same conversion for my 07 GT.

I have been searching the internet for the large Shelby letters across the hood and across the trunk, but I can´t find them anywhere. Where did you get yours? or does anybody know where to get them???

Now its primed and on the car, I'll wait until late spring to paint it so any imperfections will work their way out.

Looks good Rob. What exactly was the gray stuff? Is that a sealer or is it a liquid fiberglass bondo or something? Looks good. I actually like the hood in the black primer......w/ your black topped vert it looks cool. Keep us posted.

I am curious if your body shop bake your hood. Most of fiberglass hood need to be baked to get rid bubbles inside the resin so that it doesnt pop and damage good paint job in when it gets hot. I had a guy that didnt do a good job to mine and well...all he did was sand, primer and paint. and my hood bubble after few weeks.
You wont have that issue if the body shop doing it rt...

No baking, FRP can take up to 6 months to fully cure even if baked depending on the quality of materials used that’s why I’m waiting to paint it. Even when you bake your paint the materials are soft for a period of time until it is fully cured. Only time will show the imperfections will show up even if they are minor.

Thanks Rob the grey is an epoxy hi-build primer and the filler is an epoxy mix w/milled fibers and color tint so you can see the different layers while working the imperfections out and the black primer is the same hi-build epoxy primer.

I was talking with another member here about the color and keeping the black on the center of the hood and grabber orange on the outer sides separated by an accenting pinstripe. The more I think about it the more I like it

It'd look great, you need to have someone photoshop it for you.

Just some options for you:

I didn't have that much time, so they aren't perfect, but you should get the idea.

Man I'm glad that's not my car.....not that I don't like it (cuz I do!) but after seeing those paint options for the hood I'd have a hell of a time deciding on which one to go with. Those all look good.

Rob of the two you picked I actually think the first one is the perfect one. Go for it. I think it ties in better with the rest of the car than the second one honestly. But you can't go wrong with either choice.

I agree, on your orange car, that flat black SS style center stripe on the hood is BAD A$$. Has attitude all over it.

GT500KR pics

I just got back from the Oklahoma City auto show and got to see a real GT500KR up close. Here are the pics of the hood. After having the venom hood (before It had to be sent back) I can really compare the two hoods now. The KR extractor vents aren't that much smaller. The intake vents are narrower. Seeing both in person I would describe the differences like this:

The KR has "sharper" lines if that makes sense.....seems a little more low profile. The Venom hood is close......very close, but has what I would call softer lines. The venom hood seems to have shorter (length) intake vents, but the height of the venom vents seems to be maybe 1/4 taller. Here are some pics.
