TRUFIBER HOODS for Those with GT500 front Fascia!
Nice pictures Rob, did you get any good shots of the hood pins?

BTW......Phil called me today. A new shipment of hoods came in and they are sending my replacement hood as we speak. It will have the non-removable heat extractor vents, and a thicker top piece. Should be in by the first or middle of next week.
Just checked Conway Freight's website..........The hood is due to be in OKC this morning and hopefully delivered to my door tomorrow............hoping and praying it arrives undamaged.
The new replacement hood arrived today. I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow or Friday. There are some differences from the original venom hood. Here are the differences.
1. The intake vents are narrower and the mesh grill is set back further. This makes the mesh a little stronger because there isn't as much surface area of mesh.
2. The heat extractor vents are permanent and the border around the vents is much smaller,
3. The entire top piece of the hood is absolutely thicker than the original.
4. There are drain holes in the back corners of the hood. (they must have seen Louie's pics)
5. The ram air duct is shaped different (see the underside pics). The new one has a straight line across the back of the chamber, where the older version was a wavy line across the back of the chamber. There is also a raised "rib" running the length of the hood in the center (I don't think my old one had this).
I really like the improvements so far. The only issue I have had so far is that I had to use the hardware that bolted the hood to the two pieces of wood in the shipping box. the rear most driver side mounting hole would not accept any of my stock hood/hinge bolts. The stock bolts fit in the other three holes with no problems.

The integrated vents...I don't like those as much.
The smaller vents are much closer to the Shelby GT500KR hood.
One more thing.......the mesh on the new hood is a little more heavy duty and it is also a larger pattern. The original hood has a smaller diamond shape and the newer hood has a much larger diamond shape pattern.

Was pretty expensive though $1100 (prepped version) + $200 for the aluminium vents. How is the fitting on the Trifuber?

Rob,
It's hard to tell from your pics but from the underside, the extractors don't look parallel on the side closest to each other. I'm sure they are though.
Could you take one measurement? I need to know the GT500 stripes don't interfere with the extractors. Here are measurements of my striping: 1) The washer nozzles are ~10 1/4" from the back lip of the hood. The distance between the stripes at the nozzles is ~21 1/4". Is the distance between the extractors at this location at least 21 1/4"?

Well with the nightmare, my friend is having getting his Super Snake hood all worked out, I'm starting to think the KR Trufiber hood might have been a better product. I've got a SS hood on the way thanks to TWISTED so we'll see how it turns out. Also little FYI, the SS hoods are having issues with forcing too much ambient air into the MAF and causing the car to surge and die. Shelby has a restrictor plate that goes in now, but many have gotten their hoods without it.
