Nicely done Daryl and Doug l

Doug - Great choice of the White stripes on the Torch Red - very nice. I also like your chrome rims and 'meats'. Did the hood nozzles dictate your stripe size? - It's nice how they live in the gap just perfectly. Great photos

Daryl - Perfect stripe color for Sonic Blue - well done. Your space between the stripes looks good. I thought 1" was a bit too narrow for double stripes like ours, and 2" looked like to much so I did 1 1/2" - but your 1 3/4" space looks very good as well.

At least we can easily find our cars in the parking lot !

Nice work all

I thought the exact same thing, Jim. It's amazing what a 1/4" can do.

Love the stripes. Daryl, your car gives me a good idea what Vista Blue and silver would look like if I decide to go that route.

It appears to me that there is a natural stripe width and spacing for the 05 based on the front lower grille. What I mean is if you wanted your stripes to just fill in the spaces in the lower grille and have your spacing between the stripes be the same width as the spacer between the two openings on the grille (see circled area in picture). The stripes and spacing in this picture are a little wider than this.

Question: Anybody know what the stripes and spacing would be to just fill in the grille openings and have the space just wide enough to cover the spacer?

Thanks

Mark

Question for you guys with painted white stripes...

Did you go with just plain Performance White, or did the paint shop add any pearlescence to the mix? I asked a local paint shop about it, and he said it could be done, he's done it both ways in the past.

Opinions? What would that do for the appearance? Which would be better / look better? Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks Jim, Jason and Mark. The stripes definately complete the car. Jim I love that red on the black. My wife has a black 2004, and I think that is giving her ideas. I have now definately rethought the idea of the side rocker panels. Those look sweeeeet!!

10 3/4" wide stripe with a 1" gap is what you need. That is what I did and the reason I did it.

These are my stripes. Now, they are tapered, but start at 10" with a 1" gap down at the front bumper. 10" with a 1" gap will get the stripes fitting in BETWEEN the holes in the front lower grill. IMO this is the perfect size for the stripes on this car. It's what was on the Detroit car, afterall.

Different Stripe Option -- Torch Red/Black

Hood Stripes: Large Stripe -- 13", Gap between stripes -- 3/4", Small Hood Stripes on each side -- 1 3/4"

Side Stripes: 3 3/8" high -- I used the Shelby stripe dimensions

Rear Blackout is also vinyl

Company: Lettering Express in Oklahoma City

Anybody else have the center fat stripe? I like it!!

Jay

I guess I better add mine to the list. Sonic Blue, Silver Stripes, 10 inch with a 1 3/4 gap.
Great looking car. The silver stripes stand out great on Sonic Blue.

John and Ian,

Thanks for your responses to my measurement question. If I get stripes I think I will go with the 10'' and 1'' at the front bumper.

Ian, I think I've said this before, but if you took your car and made it white with blue stripes, that would be perfect for me (followed closely by the reverse of that). Love the intake.

I keep going back and forth between the classic shelby look and the Mach 1 look (blacked out hood with shaker, black rocker panels and rear spoiler with blacked out rear.)

Mark, thanks. I think white with blue stripes would be killer. That way, you could pick the exact blue (Airforce Blue) that you want for the stripes. I can't tell you what to do, but you will NOT go wrong putting stripes on this car. I get more compliments on the stripes than the car itself it seems.

By the way, does your '96 have a cowl hood over the Vortech? And if so, you wouldn't have happened to be the blue '96 blown GT that raced me 2 Saturdays ago around the Louisiana/Texas border? I raced a blown '96-'98 blue GT a couple weekends ago on the way to Houston. That was a fast car.

Wasn't me. No cowl. My car has a lot of power but I need some new tires to hook up.

Performance White & Blue

Chris6767

12 1/2" wide, 2 1/4" gap

painted?

I think that car looks awesome. I considered getting white, just to put guardsman blue stripes on it like the original '65/'66 Shelby's. It would have been Shelby dimensions... 10-11" tapered with a 2" gap. Jason... with your black wheels though, I'm not sure how that would look. I'd seriously consider black stripes also.

Actually, black would be the LAST color I'd choose for the stripes. There's almost too much black now. In fact, putting the black wheels on there makes me want stripes even more just to break up the "black & white" theme.

Do you have a chop, or a pic of blue on white w/ black wheels. I'm curious to see how it looks now. It may be one of those things that once I see it, I'll like it.

Actually, I used to have several, but I think I deleted them when my wheels came in. I found one, but it doesn't show the stripes too much.

Ok, I completely changed my mind. That looks really good. There is plenty of black on the car to make the wheels look good with the blue. Can't wait to see your car when it's all done. And what ducktail are you getting now?

Edit: Personally, I think that white car with the blue stripes and no spoiler looks really good too.
