I ordered the new billet hurst shifter from jegs two weeks ago , at the time it said there was a six week backorder . I checked today and it said it would be on backorder for four more weeks ,so they must have a delivery date for them from hurst. Waiting is the hardest part as always ,but with the stang in storage til spring it isnt too bad, i just installed the new flowmasters to tide me over

Can you still get it with the shorter handle?

Just got the Hurst with the white ball for Xmas and installed it a couple days later.

I like it a lot. The looks are awesome. Absolutely no rattles or vibration issues. It's also much more precise and less sloppy than the stock shifter.

However, I have to say that it's almost too much effort to shift now. Downshifting from 3rd to 2nd is especially hard sometimes. Yes, it feels more like a race car now, but for every day driving I'm not convinced that's a good thing. Maybe it'll get easier over time?

Overall, I like the shifting feel better now, and definitely like the looks a lot better, but I am considering the longer handle that davids2toys is using. Anyone know the part number or how to get it?

Yes, the Short Handle comes with it.

Hurst has NOT released their Billett shifter. You don't need it. The Comp/Pro is awesome

Davids2toys....The Hurst looks good. How did you find out what shifter handles are interchangable with the 05-07 Mustang Hurst shifter? I'd like to change the handle too. I want to go with something a little taller (like you did) but curves back (at the base of the shifter) more towards the driver ( I may have to fabricate) One thing I don't like about the shifter and it may or may not be an easy fix is how it says "hurst" on the shifter ball. I like the plain shifter ball with just the shift pattern......petty, I know, but I just like to keep the free advertising to a minimum on my car......I wonder if I can get a different shift ball from hurst minus their logo.....

Here's where I got mine for my 05.

http://mrt-direct.com/shiftball/shiftballs.php

As soon as I find where I stored it (you know, that safeplace), I'll be puting my black one on.

yes, Hurst makes the ***** with the 5-speed shift pattern and NO Hurst, in black or white. Jegs sells them for $27.99. Not sure if it's a 3/8" thread or 7/16". Here's the page:

First of all, you absolutely hit nothing at all, in fact, the coffe cup holder is much more usable now...lol. my handle is 2" higher and comes back toward the driver 1 more inch. I think it looks much more retro than the short handle, and it makes shifting much easier because of the greater leverage!!! My throw is now 3"...it is 1 inch more than the shorty handle, and 1" less than stock! Another thing i am hoping for, is somebody trying to retrofit an old style rubber boot w chrome trim and red H, the taller shifter will be perfect for that mod, where the short shifter would looked stupid!!!!
I dont have a part # for it though, sorry, if you call them or go online its the only one like it, nothing else is even close, I believe it said it was 9+ inches tall.
I love the HURST lettering on the ball, it looks BA IMO!
As far as the vib thing goes...I did not have a vibration the first 6 months I owned it, seems to come with the cooler weather

Here's what I found on the Hurst website.

The first pic shows the classic white ball w/o the Hurst logo on it.
The second pic is the handle David is using. (# 538 0015) I'm guessing though.
I also included one someone might like because it not only angles back, but also towards the driver. (# 538 8571)

The thing installs easy, changes the whole look of the interior, has no issues, and makes the car 10x more fun to drive.

No debating here. I swear by it. Hurst A++++++++++
