Mine shifts pretty easy, especially once you get used to it. Sounds like that shop might have messed something up.

391 0203 is the part # for the V-6 shifter. I was on Hurst's website today and found it.

The "inside" boot?
I just kept working it around with my fingers until it was in there right.

I took a pair of channel lock pliers apart and used the handle end that was rubber coated to push the inside boot down in the notch.

I sprayed mine down with silicone lube and worked it down from the top. I tried for half an hour with no luck before I got out the silcone spray, then it was on in less than a minute.

We did it in about 30 minutes. It went in very easy. Don't forget the loctite on the 2 bolts that hold the stick on. Mine did loosen up this last weekend.

I've been trying to find out if the black "stock style" shifter handle is available from Hurst by itself. I emailed a guy at Hurst and instead of giving me any info, he just sent me the handle... for free. Not even sure if I'm going to use it, but it's nice to have options.

I emailed him back thanking him for the handle and I asked him again if it had it's own part number. Still waiting to hear back.

status of 391-5201 (billett)

The people that I ordered my hurst shifter from called me today and said that Hurst/Mr. gasket has put an "engineering hold" on this billett shifter and wasn't sure when/if it was even coming out...Can anybody else confirm this....I did shoot an email to Hurst asking what the status was and if this rumor/statement was true? I will post what I hear tomorrow (if they respond by then).

Response from Mr. Gasket:

It will be out in September. (great response isn't it). Maybe Ski or Don_W can blame Granatelli.

ugh, i am about to just say screw it and buy the standard hurst shifter. i really want the billet one, and the chrome/white ball handle is the way to go. Although i would love to get the roush shifter with their brushed handle.

I've heard from two authorized Hurst dealers that the new billitt version is on hold indefinetely.

I just bought the Pro5.0 shifter today- anyone interested, you can get them for $245 delivered. PM me and I'll tell you where. It's an awesome shifter!

Anyone have this info? Looking for alternative shifter *****

391-0201 - Billet / Plus Shifter Chrome Handle
391-0200 - Use with Stock Shifter Ball
391-5201 - Billet Comp

Also which shifter would you go with ?

The first two you mentioned are the same shifter, just different handle.
Obviously I love mine (since I started this thread) and since the Billet shifter isn't going to be out for a while, the choice seems pretty simple because you won't find a better shifter.

As for the ****, if you get the "stock style" handle you'll be very limited in what kind of **** will fit. Only ones made specifically for the new Mustang will fit. I have yet to see a **** that looks better than the classic white Hurst ball in the our cars.

yeah i am going to go ahead with the classic version and probably buy the stock style handle on the side. I have premeir trim package, so i kinda want to be able to have a brushed aluminum look like the bezel around the shift boot. but we'll see. just got to order that.
