I'd love to know this too. The rattles are really annoying me. Maybe I'll just take the plunge and buy the new one, but $200 is too much to spend if it still rattles.

EDIT: I just ordered the billet shifter from Jeg's. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Still haven't had any rattling with mine. I didn't follow the instructions and use lock-tite on the handle bolts so they eventually loosened and I had to go back and put lock-tite on them, but it never rattled. Even when the handle was about to fall off.

I am VERY pleased with the quality of mine.

I assume the guys with rattling have re-tightened the shifter & handle bolts & then tried wiggling everything to see what exactly is rattling.

I also have had no rattling out of mine. I did use high-temp gasket sealer on the serations of the shift handle and lock-tite on the handle bolts. The other thing I did was to not use the red urathane tunnel mount bushing, I re-used the softer stock rubber one. Mine is as quiet as stock at any speed or RPM.

Well....I broke down and purchased the billet Hurst shifter.....I already have the other Hurst version installed.....I don't have any vibration issues (I used the stock bushing instead of the urethane bushing as well).....

I do have somer issues with getting the car in reverse....I can never go right into reverse....I have to shift into first and then into reverse before it'll go in..and this still isn't really smooth. I still think Hurst made a mistake with the bottom end of the shifter and the way the arm to the trans. isn't straight like it was with the stock shifter. We had a good topic going here before the last forum crash and I don't know if that was ever resolved. I want to compare this new billet version with the old version and see if the arm connecting to the trans. is more in line like it was originally. I know if you spin it around it'll fix the arm position, but then the upper portion of the shifter is backwards.

I'll post as soon as I have a chance to compare....

Anything else you all would like to know about the new billet version before I install it?

That's typical of Ford shifters. We used to have to shift into 5th then reverse with previous Mustangs. The 1st to Reverse trick is actually in the owner's manual IIRC. I think the only thing the Hurst shifter does is makes it more noticable because it's a notchy shifter, but that's the nature of all short throw shifters.

I am planning on buying one next month. Please let me know how you like it, I hope it is better than the std Hurst. Did you look at the Pro 5.0 shifter? If you are not happy with this one I might switch to the Pro.

Thanks for leading the pack.

I've had the Hurst in for 2 months now with no problems. No problems shifting in gears, no vibration (don't know what everyone was talking about), no noise issues. I love it!

Mine works like a champ. No issues at all. Would buy it again in a second.

I've got the billet version on order too, but unfortunately Jeg's has them on backorder. I don't know when it will be shipping. I'm hoping for less noise with the billet version since I get bad vibration with my current Hurst shifter. I'll keep you guys posted too.

Nope, mine doesn't rust, bust, or collect dust.

Shifts great, no vibes, I love it. Maybe just a tad more effort when you snick it in gear compared to the wet noodle stock shifter.

I am not sure the billet version is out yet. I have been watching Summit Racing and they keep pushing the date out. Does anyone have the billet shifter yet?

It looks like Summit might be out of old Hurst shifter as well, http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...134+115+400134.
Both the new billet and old versions ship by 7/1. Not sure about Jegs though. I can't wait for the first person to get one and post a review.

I'll like to take my foot out of my mouth now. Before I wasn't watching it that much, but since I've committed to getting it I realized your right about it getting pushed back. I was about to order when I saw this in the order preview page, "This part is temporarily out of stock, but you can order it now. Tentative ship date: 7/2/2006."

Hopefully they will get it in stock early.

My billet version has been on order since Feb & they keep moving the date back. Last I checked, it was 7/1 but this thread prompted me to check it again. Guess what - it's been moved again.

At least Summit gives you an estimated ship date. All Jeg's says is that the order is in Backorder Processing. So, I have no idea when it will be shipping.

Picked up my Hurst (part # 391-0200 for use with stock ball) today. I'm on vacation next week so I'll install it then.
