Ok, now I'm confused. Those ARE the M-5230-GTA, aren't they? But, the picture of the stingers (M-5230-GT) are wrong - looks like another picture of the M-5230-GTA. Correct?

Well you should be confused, because they do NOT have a correct picture of the GTA's, or the Stingers for that matter, on that website. Notice how the one they call GTA's say BORLA on them. From post #1 I was very clear to dispell that myth--the GTA's are NOT Borlas! The Stingers are Borlas, the GTA's are NOT. In short, that website is way screwed up. Clear now? Check out my first post for what the GTA's really look like and the part number, and then down to post #15 for the best place that I found to order them.

The one's pictured are the M-5230-GTQ. Haven't been able to find much info on them or any sound clips.

I got my X pipe in yesterday and I think I will probably go with that and keep the stock mufflers for awhile. I have 4 inch polished Magnaflow tips welded on them and the GTA mufflers don't sound that much louder than stock. I'll see!

I think you will like the X-Pipe sound improvement. Just an estimate on my part, but on a scale of 1-10 with one being the stock sound, I would say that just the X-Pipe made it a 2-3, and now with the X-Pipe and the GTA mufflers it is a 3-5. Plus since you already have some nice tips, you may be happy with just the X-Pipe. I liked the sound with just the X-Pipe and stock mufflers, but I also wanted the Shelby GT/GT-H tips, so I went the extra step and got them both. Let us know what you think with just the X-Pipe.

X Pipe Installed

Installed the X pipe today. I decided to get a pair of pipe clamps like the ones that Ford used on the rear and just make 2 cuts in the front and clamp them together. It worked very well and it was quick. If I ever want to go back to the H pipe this will make it much easier.

As far as the sound goes I didn't notice any increase in rev or idle but at WOT I believe it is louder. Could I tell a difference in performance?

Would I do it all over again? Sure, why not~

Noticably louder, or maybe kinda sorta louder?

If you had a lift, you will have enough room and wouldn't need to do that step. I did it just with Rhino Ramps, and it was still an easy install.
Perhaps this x-pipe would also work well for those DIYs, like myself, that want to convert thier V6 (actually my wife's) to dual exhaust. In my case, I have the mid-pipes from my 05, together with the M-5230-GTA's. With these muffler's, is there any difference between manual vs. auto, because my wife's V6 is an auto?

Well I have never seen what the V6 exhaust looks like underneath the car, but if it uses, or can use the same down pipes/cats that the GT uses, then the X-Pipe should work. The GTA's will work for either the auto or manual, there is no difference in them. That is why they can be used on the Shelby GT-H which is an auto, or the Shelby GT which can be had as an auto or manual. On a side note, I have my stock mufflers and H-Pipe for sale that could be used to convert your V6 if you are interested. The H-Pipe could be clamped or welded in, and the mufflers obviously just clamp on. From reports by guys that had 05/06's, the stock 07 GT exhaust is already a little louder and more aggressive sounding than the 05/06's.

Hey Buster,

Thanks for the info. The down pipes/cats on the V6 are similar, only after the cats, the two pipes come togther in a Y fashion. The good thing is that after the cats, like the GT, the pipes are 2.5". However, I've read the distance between the pipes just after the cats is slightly different, so maybe the x-pipe would work welded, but a little to off for just cutting and clamping. I'm really not certain. I'll keep your mufflers in mind, should I decide to go that route. I too have a GT h-pipe sitting around, because I'm running the Pypes OR h-pipe on my 05 GT, but I know for a fact that the GT h-pipe doesn't fit the V6. Again, thanks for your reply. Maybe someone else has tried putting this x-pipe on thier V6?

Steve

If this was in response to post 35, it has been well-established in this thread that the Stingers are Borla and the GTH mufflers are not. But the question was regarding the "GTQ" FRPP mufflers. These are neither the stingers nor the GTH mufflers. There are actually 3 FRPP mufflers available for the Mustang- the Borla Stingers (M-5230-5GT), the GTH style (M-5230-GTA) and the unknown mufflers (M-5230-GTQ). The GTQ mufflers are oval can and may be the same as the oval can Borlas.

Some nice looking tips for sure. Looks like we have another nice pair of reasonably priced mufflers like the Flows.

Thanks again to Mustang Buster for keeping this thread alive. After renting a GT-H for a couple of days, I became excited on recreating that exhaust sound for my vert. I took Craig's advice, and got a great deal and extremely fast service from Scott at Matthew's Ford.
I've had the X-Pipe and GTA mufflers for almost a week now, but it will be at least a week before I can get around to installing them.
If there's enough interest, I'll install the GTA's first, and try to get a comparison fot those interested between stock mufflers, GTA's, and GTA's w/X-Pipe.
Craig, am I creating more work by doing the GTA install before the X-Pipe?

I am too!!! I have only found one sound clip with the GTAs on stock H pipe and the quality was too poor to make any judgement. Anything you can do to help us fellow stangers make a better decision is appreciated.

I ordered the Supreme GT mufflers from Ninosports and found out that the company that owns Supreme is Arvin. Arvin I was told is a major supplier to Ford for their exhaust parts. The X pipe sounds alittle louder than the stock H pipe and I am anxious to get these mufflers which are made in Texas.
The mission continues.

No, it won't be any more work for you to do the mufflers first, see how they sound and then do the x-pipe. Putting on the x-pipe after the mufflers will be no different then what I had to do by putting on the x-pipe with the stock mufflers, since I was waiting for the GTA's while they were on back order.
