Anyone install just the mufflers without the x-pipe? Wondering how they sound on their own compared to stock.

any chance of getting an audio clip of your ride now? I would really like to here a warm idle as well as a good rev of the motor. So no drone in the 1800 to 2000 rpm range?
Nice write up and good pictures... I like the way they look. And thanks for the tip on who to contact.

I too would be interested in anyone who has used the mufflers with the stock H-pipe. Sound, drone, loudness etc. I've heard that they are slightly louder than stock.

I recently installed the FRPP "stingers" which sound wicked, but I think I would like something not quite as aggressive at mid throttle with less resonance. Probably will sell them soon.

Sorry, but I don't have any way of doing a sound clip. A GT-H sound clip has been posted in this thread however, and it sounds exactly like that, because it is the same exhaust system. Again, on my car there is no resonance or drone at any rpm or speed. I took it out and drove it at a variety of speeds and engine rpms and never got any drone or resonance. They Borla's have that problem, but these do not.

those are the exact mufflers and tips used on the Unique Performance Foose Stallions that we have at our dealership. They dont use the X pipe on the Foose. The mufflers sound good...not loud..nice tone..could use to be a little deeper.

Any sound clips of the Foose Stallions? Or are they the same as the ones already posted?

How much louder than stock, 1 to 10 scale (1 being stock)?

Again, that is pretty subjective, and just an estimate on my part, but I would say that just the X-Pipe made it a 2-3, and now with the X-Pipe and the GTA mufflers it is a 3-5. It is also a lower sound than stock, especially at idle with a nice low rumble, and roars when you floor it. If, however, you want something really loud, this system is not it, it is not that loud. If you are like me though, and want something a little louder than stock, that looks better, and also gives a small performance increase (probably only 5-10hp at the most) then this system is a good option. If you want it louder, the Borla's would be a better option though. For me, it is exactly what I wanted. It looks great, sounds great, has a little performance gain, and is OEM quality.

Thanks. Yea, I'm looking for louder than stock, but not obnoxious and no drone. I'd like to hear the exhaust a bit when idling while in the car, as well as while highway cruising. Can't really hear stock in those situations.

I have the FRPP (Borla Stingers). They are loud, but not the loudest. Most of it is the deep resonance at start up and around town. Get on it, and the scream, but not that much more than stock, just deeper. There is considerable drone between 1300 and 2000 RPM, peak at about 1800. No drone on highway at about 70 mph, but some at 60. The drone is about what 2chamber flows used to have. Don't get me wrong, sounds very mean. It's really what you prefer to hear. Some people really like that old muscle car sound. I am a little older and would probably prefer just a little more pulse at idle, a little more than stock around town, and actually liked the scream of the original mufflers at WOT.

My opinion, hope it helps.

I have also seem M-5230-GTQ (not M-5230-GTA that are being discussed here). They look oval like the stock or the GTA mufflers, but are made by Borla and have the 4 in chrome pipe out the back. I don't know much about them either. Has anyone any experience with these? You can see them on the LethalPerformance web site.

Cool, Carrol Shelby, Chip Foose, and I all have the same taste in exhausts...

Mustang Buster, great in-depth write up! Many thanks for FINALLY laying to rest who the heck makes these things, I asked the question a long time ago but as you mentioned the only responses were guesses that they were by Borla.

The oval can Borlas are 50 state legal, and the few people I've seen post that actually installed them said they are just barely louder than stock. I am not sure if the GTQ's are those same oval-can Borlas though.

It's amazing how distributors can screw up part numbers. Check out the mufflers here that they are calling M-5230-GTA! $400 and made by Borla~

Yeah, and they don't have the right Borla Stinger photo either. Glad I haven't had to buy anything from them, who knows what you will get?
