FRPP Shelby GT/GT-H Exhaust Installed with Pics!!!
This evening the FRPP GTA mufflers that had been on back order arrived to go along with the FRPP X-Pipe that I had already installed. This is the same exhaust setup that is used on the Shelby GT and the GT-H. I installed them right away, and I am very pleased with the results. Not only do I now have the same exhaust setup as the Shelby's, but they sound great!
First let me say that the mystery is solved, as they are NOT made by Borla as some speculated. They are made in the USA by a company called Supreme Performance, and their decals were even in the FRPP box. http://www.supremeperformance.com/
The Ford part numbers of both the mufflers and X-Pipe are:
FRPP Mufflers (used on the Shelby GT and GT-H) M-5230-GTA
FRPP X-Pipe (also used on the Shelby GT and GT-H) M-5251-R
I weighed the stock exhaust and the GTA exhaust on my digital scale before the install. I weighed everything twice to make sure the numbers were accurate. The stock exhaust weighed 15.6 pounds per side, but the GTA exhaust only weighed 12 pounds per side, for a weight savings of 3.6 per side, or 7.2 total. The sound is great, and there is no, as in zero, resonance or drone. At idle is has a much deeper and low rumble over the stock mufflers, and they are quite a bit louder under WOT, but not to the point of being offensive. To me they sound almost identical to the Corsa's but for less than half the cost.
The tips look great, as they are 4" double-walled polished stainless steel, and have a slight slant cut to them. They fill out the opening in the rear bumper facia nicely. Again the tips look very similar to the Corsa tips, except the Corsa's have a much greater slant cut to them, and they of course say "Corsa" on them.
I took several pics of the mufflers before the install, and some next to the stock mufflers for comparison. Unfortunately however, it got dark by the time I got them installed, and my digital camera wouldn't take any good shots at night. I will take some photos in the morning with the mufflers installed.
So for those considering this exhaust, I would highly recommend it.

Great write up and pics. Puts a lot of questions to rest. I had to do it again, I would get those. I really like the 4" tips and the way they fill up the cutout, and the double wall looks very high quality.
Thanks for the terrific write-up. Do you think there will be any chance of getting some video footage of how they sound? I really want to hear how the x-pipe sounds like, and I am really thinking of adding this to my car. Thanks again for the great pics.
Thanks guys, and as promised, here are some installed photos now that it is daylight. The install was pretty straight forward, and the parts are very high quality, just like OEM, which is what you would expect from FRPP. Really the only hang-ups so to speak, where that they were not packed that well, and UPS had destroyed the box, and one of the hangers was bent slightly (it was very easy to bent back though). I also had to loosen the clamp back by the X-Pipe to get the tips centered in the bumper cutout. This was easy though, as it used the same 17mm deep well socket as the muffler clamps, so I just loosened, adjusted and retightned. The only tools required where a 17mm deep well socket, and a 13mm socket, and a 13mm wrench. As other have said however, a 13mm ratchet wrench would have made things much easier. I had a set, but the movers "lost" them during my last PCS move--you military guys know how that happens.
Oh, sorry Jeff, but I don't have a video camera, but I have seen several links on here that have actual sound clips of the GT-H. I am happy to report that mine now sounds exactly like that, which it should, since it has all the same exhaust parts.
P.S. Duke's labor rate is a reasonable 6oz of milk per hour of work

Mustang Buster-
Nice write-up.
Did you post your X-pipe install somewhere?
I'll be doing mine this weekend, and was wondering how much of the forward exahust system you have to loosen/remove to get the "X" to fit onto the two forward tubes....? Any problems with the X-pipe install?

The only thing that I didn't like is the claim of 20 horsepower- that is a little underhanded IMHO. They did ship ASAP though- as promised.
I discussed the X-Pipe install in several threads, but it was very easy. The instructions that come with the X-Pipe show it being done in place on a lift. I did all the marking and cutting in place, but then dropped the left side down pipe/cat to make it easier to slide everything back together, as the X-Pipe slides on at an angle. If you had a lift, you will have enough room and wouldn't need to do that step. I did it just with Rhino Ramps, and it was still an easy install.
I ordered both the X-Pipe and the GTA mufflers from Matthews Ford near Toledo, OH. Ask for Scott in parts, he was very helpful, and delievered right on time with the X-Pipe. He was right up front with me on the GTA's, and told me they would be on backorder if I ordered them. He kept me posted, and shipped the mufflers to me the day they arrived. The phone number is (419)698-4444. The X-Pipe was $120 plus $10 for shipping, and the GTA mufflers were $270 plus $15 for shipping.

If you like a lower, rumble at idle, similar to what a Corsa sounds like, you will like this exhaust. Overall the exhaust is lower, and louder and more aggressive than stock when you floor it, and at idle has a nice, low rumble. IMHO it sounds great, and for a fraction of the cost of some other systems. As for performance, Ford and Shelby say that the X-Pipe is good for about 5hp, and then they go on to say that the addition of the exhaust, X-Pipe and CAI are the reason why the Shelby GT/GT-H have 25hp more than a stock GT. So, I doubt you are going to see anything more than a total of 5-7hp increase with this system, something you are not going to feel, but it sure sounds faster!
Nice write-up, Craig.
And you're right, there's an exhaust system out there for just about everyone's taste, from loud to loud-loud to obnoxiously loud. I'm happy to report than I'm near the latter!
