You'll be dissappointed when you see on paper that it's less than 300 RWHP.

They dyno'd a stock GT on Horsepower TV and got 255 RWHP if I remember correctly. They added the K&N FilterCharger and got 10 more, so that's 265. Then a hi-flow exhaust and added 8 more, so that's 273. Then they added Nitrous and got WAY over 300.

Well, with the H-Pipe, and tune, it should be over 300.

I hope for all of us, that it IS!

Check out eci's numbers on a Dynojet...

stock

C&L CAI & BamaChips 91R

So will it be worth $125 to get 3 pieces of paper with the above information? or

I'm curious how they have you do it, too.

I've seen them on TV go through the gears, and then floor it in 4th.

But, since there is no resistance on the barrel, normally you just put it right in 4th and floor it - that's supposed to be easier on the dyno.

Maybe not... that's what I expected - just over 300 RWHP.

Unless you want to see on paper that YOUR car does it, too. - I'm sure it does!

Something I don't get... eci's 07 baselined at 269.48HP. Then with the C&L CAI and a BamaChips 91 Race tune, it only went up 15.73HP???

As shown from his dyno results, individual mods are not cumulative. In other words, from a baseline of 270, you don't add 30 from a CAI, 10 from an O/R H, 25 from a tune, etc, etc.

I would be mad and sorry I went if after all we did only netted us 15HP.

Of course not. Tested separately, mods may show 10 HP on a dyno. 3 together won't show 30... but maybe 18 or 20.

On Horsepower TV, they dyno it after each mod, so they aren't showing what each mod alone will give you, only the total.

Then don't go! J/K - You won't know what you added - you don't have a stock HP number.

What's your thoughts (or theory) as to why he only raised his HP by only 15.73 after a CAI and tune? Am I the only one that thinks this is strange?

I'd say make sure there's nothing else you want for the car that you can spend those $125 on. If not then go ahead and get it dynoed.

Not really sure what to say about the tune and cai only making 15. I'm going to say your car will be around 290 although I'm hoping for 300.

My guy has you run through the gears real easy and hold it @2k rpm then floor it for the run. He charges $75 for 3 no tune runs.

I am hoping to go for my custom SCT dyno tune on Friday.

Bill, you may not make it to 300RWHP. It depends on where it started out stock. All cars are not the same.
For instance,my car wth just the K&N intake makes torque over 300 lb/ft but it started at 295 lb/ft stock.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I WANT TO F***IN STRANGLE SOMEBODY RIGHT NOW. Just got a call from the dealership appearantly while removing my rear windshield they shatered it causing scratches and chips in the freshly painted decklid. So now the car might not be ready by Friday which means no Track. On top of that I'm sure they f'ed up somthing else while cleaning all the class so now when I go pick it up I'll have to do a very **** inspection to make sure the class didn' cut into my rear seats or scratch anyother part of the car. Never in a million years would I have thought getting my ducktail would cause me so much grief.

I think his stock HP numbers are high. 255 RWHP stock to 300 RWHP now is more like it. 45 RWHP gain.

Sorry to hear that... this is why I have minor things wrong with my car and still won't take it to the dealer.

I think it will be close to 300 RWHP give or take. What is it, 15% lost through drivetrain? So, 300 RWHP on the dyno is still 353 BHP which is a 53 BHP increase over stock. 353 X .85 = 300, which makes sense since they got 300 X .85 = 255 on Horsepower TV bone stock.

-----------------

Honestly, without stock numbers, getting it dyno'd now won't tell you everything you would LIKE to know: How much you increased over stock. You could put that $125 toward one of the G-Tech Pro SS's (they are $199). Then you'll know your HP, and you can figure Torque, 60-ft times, 1/8 & 1/4 mile times... G Forces! 0-60, 0-100!

That's where I'd put the $125 toward... they tested them out on Horsepower TV, too - they were pretty darn accurate!

If they were going to mess up my car I wish they would have messed up something that I could replace with an aftermarket part. I.E. front/rear bumper, hood (so I can get the foose hood cdc is selling).

Dude.. Sorry to hear that bro. Things like this aren't supposed to happen to nice guys like you.

I personally didn't see the scratches on your back window, but in hindsight, perhaps you could have masked that back window yourself and attempted to poilish it out. But, I guess that doesn't matter at this point. However, you can learn from this (ongoing) experience and take care of the small stuff yourself in the future instead of turning loose the Dealership bafoons on your baby.

Isn't the rear window a 'safety glass'? Meaning it just busts up into small pebble like pieces? If so, your seats and such should be fine, just a mess to vacuum up.

I hope they make things right and take a priority for the repairs that they have to do.

I see what you're saying. It's impossible at this point (for me) to see how much HP all these mods and tune has done for me since I never baselined it. I can't even use someone else's baseline numbers because of factory and dyno variances are too great.

I think you're right, if having trivial info is that important to me, I should just get the G-Tech. Didn't you inquire about getting one a while back, but I talked you out of it?

I have a Beltronics Vector FX-2.
http://www.beltronics.com/fx.html
I paid less than $180 for it with all the cables and software.
It has 2 accelerometers in it and gives great cornering info also.

Live and learn. I guess next time I'll keep my mouth shut. It just didn't want to let them get away with messing up my car.

I'm going down to Hawthorne to pick up the wife's car finally so I'll make sure to stop by the dealership and see how my car looks. Hopefully your right and nothing else got damaged.
