wow... man i wish i could've seen it in person
its really sad when cool stuff like that is totally destroyed and un salvageable. Natural disasters have taken away soooo many percious things in theis wolrd, the library of alexandria, pompeii, the tsunami in asia, and now this
sure i know theres more, but these ones stand out in my mind...
what a shame..

If you have been to New Orleans, you know about its heritage. The homes in the quarter are historic. There are businesses that are famous, people travel from all over the world just to visit them.
If you have never been to New Orleans, you have missed out. It will never be what it was for all these years.
And yes, Kevin, you are right... we grew up right by the levee, and you can watch the big ships pass while still being "on the ground". Its quite weird to me now.. .but growing up, it was normal, and I never thought twice about it.
Thank God my parish pretty much survived the storm. But it will still feel odd not being able to tour the quarters by horse and buggy.

humm all this high tech stuff and some things still cannot be prevented, so here is a happy note off topic but I think some need breaks from depressing situations at times ?

Yes, that is correct. standing on the roadway (on one side of the levee) you can see the boats on the other side passing. Like I said, it was never 'strange' to me, b/c that was just how it was
I've been to New Orleans twice, both this year. It was cool walking down canal street and seeing a cruise ship go by at the end and it looked as tall or taller than the buildings. I am glad that the french quarter did not suffer that much damage. Its one of my favorite places in the world.
Yeh he noticed us or Canadians. Its really great that people come together in times as this.

Pray hard for the gulf coast region from N.O. to Galveston.
N.O. is still badly wounded from Katrina--Rita could compound our problems a great deal, just when we were starting to make progress 3 1/2 weeks after Katrina.
