The Geek Out
Lol. Windows 9 is going to be called "Windows 10". They didn't mention anything about price yet. But the word on the street is $0-$20 for an upgrade.
I think free would be a good idea for upgrading from 8. Even up to $40 to upgrade from 7 or below seems reasonable to me.
I still get all of mine for free through my school. But if I didn't, I'd have no problem paying $40.

Can someone help me with what I need to do with my hard drive and what to replace it with? I got a message the other day that said something to the effect of a SMART test showed that my hard drive was failing and that I needed to back up all my **** and replace it. How do I do that? (replace it). I know I could (and would probably be better off) getting a newer, faster, better computer, but I love this one and love the way it works for me.
What do I need to look for? What kind of hard drive to I need or what kind can I use? How do I put all of my stuff (Windows stuff also) on it so I can keep using this one like it is?

Would you still have the manual that came with it? In there is should tell you what type of drive and what will work with your computer.
There are utilities that can help you use to help you copy your data over, or clone your drive. I havent used one in many years so maybe another member can help you out with what software is the latest and greatest, in that arena.
Anyone have a bluetooth portable speaker in the sub $100 range? Different ones are on sale this week and I have $40 in Kohls cash to spend and looking to waste it on a speaker.
Only problem is most are only available online so you can't listed them first.
I did go into the store and they had an iHome speaker for $30 that actually sounded much better than expected for the name and price. Almost grabbed it but the volume could have been louder. There is a bigger version, but it wasn't in the store.

Then there was a Soundfreaq. This one was pretty loud. Sounded good. Better then than the smaller iHome. Not a lot of bass though, or at least in the demo.

Then there is this other Soundfreaq that is bigger, square, and sounds much better. Plenty of bass too. Only drawback is size. Good for the deck at home, portable, but it's as tall as it is wide.

So, anyone use any of these or maybe recommend one that sounds good? Kinda last minute since I may just grab one tomorrow before the sale is off. But it would be good to hear what anyone is using.

Sorry I'm a little late. I haven't...erm...been allowed to post for the last few months.
Upgrade to 10 is free for Windows 7/8/8.1. I watched bits and pieces from their conference the other day, and it looks like a lot of cool features are coming. I think HoloLense will be cool, but not something that I'll ever pay for or really use. But I am pretty excited about streaming games from my Xbox One to Windows 10.
Did you get that figured out? Did it ever die?...Was there a shiny new 1TB SSD in your future?
What'd you end up with? I have an 808 HEX SL(http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-191...FQyraQodlYEA8A), and I'll just say it gets pretty **** loud. It's great around the house, in the shower, out at the pool, etc.

I got the Soundfreaq Pocket Kick. I listened to a lot of them and this one seemed to be about the best and had good volume without breaking the bank. I'm happy with it.

I finally upgraded to Lollipop on my Verizon GS5, and everything's great...except for the battery life. My phone gets noticeably hot, sluggish, and dies twice as fast as before.
In 10 hours, I went through about 175% battery life between 2 full charges. Before the update, I was only going through half that much battery.
Anyone else using Lollipop yet?
Edit: I just noticed an issue with Wi-Fi too. It seems to be disconnecting/reconnecting every 30 seconds or so, but only when I'm really close (~7ft.) to the router.

No love for the LG G3 yet.
Whenever I get a new major software update on the phone, I back up and do a total factory restart. I don't know if it helps things be better or not, but i've heard people say it's a good idea to do.

Not available yet for me, but a bit hesitant when it does come. Last update bricked my phone and it was a major hassle to get it replaced.
