I have never even heard of Safe Auto.
Geico is less expensive in most cases here in NJ. But price only shouldn't dictate a choice of carriers. From my perspective as a retired claims adjuster, they have a horrible reputation for service in this state. I've experienced it professionally on numerous occasions. I could tell you horror stories about a pattern of misleading, lies, lack of knowledge, and disregard for NJ Fair Claims Practices statutes.

Whenever one of my customers had a 3rd party claim with them, I always advised that they submit 1st party and let us do the fighting with Geico. Those that still decided to claim through them often let us us know that they regretted that decision.

When my Jeep got hit last winter, the other driver had Geico. I had to call a few times to get my rental paid for, but other than that I had no issues.

I have Met Life and they've been okay to deal with too. Then again, any insurance company is good as long as you make your payments and don't file a claim!

Tom, i worked at StateFarm very briefly and learned a lot aboout dealing withclaims and hope that i neverhave to deal with Geico. They are cheap for many reasons and one of them has to be claims.

I am currently working fora 5 star insurance company and can clearly see the differences going between Geico to State Farm to where I am now. If i could afford where i am now, it would be a no brainer switch but to go from $1200/year to $3100/year would be insane.

I'm with Plymouth Rock, the company from which I retired. I used to get a small discount when I was working, but no longer. I'm paying $1220 every 6 months for two cars. My '14 GT convert is actually cheaper than my '14 leased Fusion. As you can imagine I'm extremely insurance conscious and carry very high CSL limits....$500K BI, $500K UM/UIM, high PIP limits, and all the other goodies.

I personally know the level of service the claims department provides so that's why I stay.

I just have my Focus, but once i have a finalized job offer I will definitely need Renters insurance for my new place and kinda hate that Geico basically acts like a broker in that sense. I have gotten quotes from AllState and they are very comprable in price to Geico but i really dont know if i can deal with an office since i worked in an office and the sales calls were driving me insane. I know its their job but ****.

I am thinking of raising my limits, i have split limits of 100/300/50 and been thinking of raising my PD to 100k, i know i have barely any assets but still.

I agree...50K PD is inadequate these days with so many cars worth much more than that. In an at fault accident where a 5 series BMW or large SUV is involved, that 50K is used up. Get a quote on a CSL policy...perhaps there's a 300K limit available. I'm willing to bet it's not that much more than split limits and it'd be much better coverage. Not sure if you can get a multi-policy discount with a renter's policy but it's worth asking.

You can save few bucks with a $1000 deductible too. That's what I do, and I keep an extra $1K in my checking just in case I have an accident. If I don't need it, I just roll it over to the next policy anniversary.

I'm glad you don't have the minimum 15/30/5. I've seen countless people get screwed royaly on either side of the fence who think they're saving big bucks that way.

I refuse to ever use Geico as my insurance company. In the early 1990's, they funded the research to develop police traffic laser guns. The early guns were even nicknamed "Geico guns".

Oh i know that 50k PD is horrible and did a quote for 100k and itwad only $4/6 months so have to sit down and do that. The current insurance company i am working for is truly too expensive for someone like me but i do likethe idea of CSL policies, saves all the number hassle. Do you have any recommendations for companies thatbi should look into?

I have $500 deductible but that'sbecause i am a little tight on cash these days and God forbid anything happens. I take 287 to and from work and with all the rock chips during that 80 mile daily commute, i am just waiting for my windshield to shatter

Tom, you would have a fit if you saw my parents policies. I have been trying and begging them to increase their coverage but it is like talking to a brick wall. They are driving around with 50/100/25 i belive and it is driving me insane.

With Geico, a renters counts for multipolicy. But i just know that i dont want to stay with Geico for much longer.
