That's so weird. There's a church down the road that that used to be a VFW (ironic). Right across the street is a liquor store. I've never even thought about it until now.

I guess its a Bible belt thing. You couldn't sell alcohol on Sunday in the whole state until a few years ago. Now they let individual counties and cities put it on the local voting ballot if they want to or not. Heck, the county next to mine was completely dry until about 10 years ago.

Seams the only bars we have are pubs with food served. Restraunts that serve drinks with food. Small time bars are becoming a thing of the past.

Yeah, there are some weird laws about stuff that people view as immoral, especially down here. For example, back when it was state law that you couldn't sell alcohol on Sunday, in Atlanta they could sell liquor by the drink. So theoretically you could go to a bar, or restaurant or a Braves game and get ****faced and drive home.
However you couldn't walk into a store right across the street from the bar, restaurant, etc. and buy a 12 pack or bottle of liquor to take home and get ****faced on where you were stationary and off the roads. That makes a hell of a lot of sense. Not.

I love Vegas. Not for the gambling, for the shows. They've got **** good food there too. It's a great place to go for entertainment, but I never have been big on gambling. I played my share of poker and won a lot more than I lost because it turned out I was pretty good at reading people, but I have no desire to play cards for any kind of money. I've got a nice set of chips and we have some people that play about once a month, but it's an excuse to get together and keep friendships new. We don't play with money, we just keep track of our chips from game to game. We still haven't decided what the "winner" is going to get, but it's probably going to be something like telling the last-place person what kind of tattoo to get and where.
Too many ways to lose my money without roulette or blackjack or slots or poker or keno or whatever else taking it too.
