We had a dark red Chevy cruze ( not mine ) , when we left, the lot was pretty empty ( the lot by the north entrance/ticket booth )

Started watching House of Cards last night. So far its great. Kevin Spacey is fantastic. I'm thinking its not far from how things really work in Washington.

Some idiot was setting off dynamite or something last night at 1am. I'd just start dozing off and then I'd get woken up by what sounded like a canon ball crashing into a metal shed. No idea what the hell was going on.

I was working on a Subaru engine at the shop....
Amazing how things have changed in just our lifetimes. My town was still pretty much segregated when I was really young. I probably had more black friends at certain points in my life. Hung out at their homes which was really odd to see black people stare at me like I shouldn't be in that neighborhood. Strange until they all got used to me being around. I've made it a point to get to know all types of people. Black Spanish Asian Mid-Easterners. For some reason I seem to hit it off with more people who are not white than I do with white people. I've had quite a few black folk tell me I'm not all white that's why I don't understand. Lol
When I was in high school, I went to school at a Military school and lived with Blacks, Muslims, Catholics, Jews, Lutherans, Methodists, Asians, Hispanics, Etc, etc.....we had guys from South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Columbia, Taiwan, Thialand, China, Japan, Lebanon, Etc, etc....We ALL got along just fine and today I am friends with most of them still....I have noticed just ONE guy who happens to be from Brooklyn and is black who seems to be angry and have a chip on his shoulder when it comes to race....I blame that on his surroundings and upbringing at home because we never had the kind of problems the media would lead you to believe....one big melting pot of nearly 300 students living in dorms and never had a racial problem. Now there were some GI showers for those who refused to take a shower but for the most part we didn't have any trouble....and that was in the mid 80's.
That's ancient history.....any inner city is going to have it's issues but I have found more Racism in Maryland than I have seen in Alabama in the past 10 years. I have seen Klan members in full outfits in MD...but never here. I also saw FAR more Black racism against whites in the DC area than I do here. I think once you get away from the city people get along FAR better. It's these centers of racist teaching and exposure that breed the hatred and racism....
