They have engine bay cleaner at auto stores, you spray it over everything, let it sit for whatever min it says on the bottle and then spray it off with hose. Honestly I have never tried it.

Also heard after that tire shine works wonders on rubber or plastic peices.

I'm always just too afraid to wash my engine with a hose in the final stage. Never tried it because of that

I've used it before. Warm - not hot - engine, spray degreaser on, let sit, hose off (pressure washer better). Some do it yourself carwashes have degreaser for their wand.

However, that was older engines. You'd cover the distributor cap with plastic to keep it dry. Even then it sometimes starts a little rough.

But with the new engines with all the electrical/computer crap I'm not sure... I imagine getting sensors, coil-on-plugs, etc. wet would not be good.

Since I drive mine every day, I wipe my engine bay down with a damp cloth every time I wash the car so that it doesn't get too grimy. Everything may not be super shiny, but I can pop my hood at anytime and wouldn't be embarrased at how it looks.

I know that's no help for right now.....but may help for the future

I do the same, I use a damp cloth and do it manually. Being that I barely drive my car I don't really do it that often.

Right. I have separate micro's marked with a sharpie for different uses. Fresh one for body panels, 2nd best for door jambs, then engine bay, then wheels, oldest ones for using with the bug and tar remover pre-wash. I like keeping the dust off the top of the engine and bay and particularly the intake and strut tower brace.

Over the years any oil leaks or spills can bake on the lower block. That's when a degreaser of some sort is needed.

It's not so bad old boy. You just need a sexy girl in your life to see the glass is still half full. Get off that ranch of yours and have a night on the town. I'm sure there's still some life in those old bones. The right girl will cure all that ails you. It's not too late.

Nothing ails me bud. I've had the right girl for many years. Current versions don't qualify.
And I'm living the life I created on a clean sheet of paper starting when I was 11. I'm not stuck in your deadend. I always dreamed, planned and worked to retire in my 40's, and it came about in a surprising way. Amazing how goals work. I'm set. My career years were during the era of Reagan/Laffer's supply side opportunity. From that success and knowledge I manage my assets and inflation protected income so that I don't pay income tax. You're the one that has to deal with the future of being average and ordinary in a stagnant economy, and over taxed under a Keynesian government filled with ******** that are nothing but leeches and freeloaders. Instead of knocking me, you should be asking questions. duh

And why are you singling me out on this subject? I joined Lee and Gary's discussion as did Nathan. I am clearly not the only one that recognizes why the flag is flying upside down. Why aren't you ridiculing their comments as you do mine?
