Appreciate the honesty. That's kind of where I see the early build market for a LS. 3rd or 4th qtr cars might be more easily had for MSRP. Since I could get a 1st qtr reg Boss at MSRP I opted for it, but would have considered $5k for an early LS.

It just went from good to bad to worse.
I called about 20 dealers in my area and finally found one that said they had allocations and would sell it for MSRP.
The good - I went to the dealership and noticed that all their cars, including a new GT500, had blue stickers pointing to the MSRP that said no dealer mark up. I thought, this looks good and they told me they don't mark up any of their cars. He told me that if I order now that their area Ford rep would be in the next day and he could tell me the build quarter. So, the owner of the dealership came out and took my order for a CO with the recaro/Torsen package. He printed out the order sheet with the MSRP as the final price and had me sign it. The owner then shook my hand and said he didn't need a deposit because he believes that a mans hand shake is his word.
The bad - The salesman called the next day and told me that he didn't realize how few of these cars they are actually building and that they were only getting one allocation. He then told me it was a fourth quarter build. I thought, well I'm not in a big hurry for it and at least I'm still getting a car.
The worse - The salesman called me again about three weeks after I placed the order (yesterday) and told me that he just found out that their 1 allocation was actually a lottery win and it was for a Laguna Seca not a standard BOSS. He then told me that they would be selling it for $10K over MSRP. He said he felt bad and would give me $1600 of of the GT500 they had on the floor. I said no thanks that's not what I'm looking for.
All this after they tell me they don't mark up cars and a man's hand shake is his word. What a crock.
So now, all I have is a meaningless order conformation number and no car. I'm afraid it's too late to find another one now but I guess I'll keep looking.
Sorry for the long post, but I just had to get it off my chest.

Hizzle, maybe the paper you signed could be interpreted as a contract ...
There is a long time between now and fourth quarter. A lot of things can change. The closer we get to the 2013 build, the softer prices will be on 2012. It wouldn't surprise me if that dealer's 2012 Laguna Seca may even go below MSRP.
Keep checking around. Someone who's ordered an LS may back out, with a dealer suddenly sitting on a car they weren't expecting. It happpens.
I've been doing handshake deals with my dealer for around 20 years, and never a problem. Maybe I am out of touch with reality.

No you're not out of touch, it's Hizzle's dealer who has the integrity issue. Really bad move considering it's unlikely the 4th quarter cars will bring any kind of ADM and would be more likely to sell below MSRP with 2013s on the way and winter in 60% of the country at that time.

I'm still looking for a Boss Mustang in the Maryland Area. The Annapolis Dealer is only getting two. First one is Blue/White Stripes, the second one they don't know until they sell the first... Guess i have to call around to look for a White/Black Boss .

I had been looking for a standard Boss for a week and happened across a dealership with a 2Q allocation for a Laguna Seca asking MSRP so I put a deposit down and signed the purchase order. I feel like I won the lottery.
