Guys, when selecting mounting points for your harness you might want to use the driver’s side OEM hard point.
Ford racing also uses this hard point on their race cars.
But you may have noticed the OEM threads are 10mm and all of the available safety harness eye bolts are 7/16.
What to do? Drill and tap? Then you got a problem when / if you sell the car you can’t reinstall the 10mm bolt.
I looked high and low and called everyone in the US I could find that sold motorsports safety hardware.
Then I found these guys Grayston Engineering, they produce an FIA approved 8.8 grade 10mm eye bolt. But they are in the UK and won’t sell to you unless you are a vendor.

Rightside is the 10mm eye bolt leftside is the 7/16 that is avaiable in the US.

If you go this route, email them and have them send you an invoice for the eye bolts and shipping.
It'll make the purchase go easier.

We will have a solution for the lap belts. It has been designed, prototyped, and is now in production. I should have in stock as well as pictures as soon as we start to have the roll bars in people's hands.
This was a helpful post as indeed 10mm x1.5 eyebolts are hard to find. But, even with the eyebolt on the B-pillar, you still need a solution for the other side of the seat - which is a challenge because of space. Then, you have to re-install your normal lap belts all over again. We have a solution where your OEM lap/shoulder belt remains completely in place - yet we provide a secure mounting point for the 3" lap belts which can be clipped/un-clipped into the car as needed.

I'm planning on using a Sparco Evo 2 Plus seat and a six point harness; will your solution have a provision for the anti-submarine belts as well?
When using the Sparco seat mounting sliders and seat base there is a tab on the mounting base that you could use for the stock seat belt receptacle but I don't feel there is enough room when using a harness to tighten up the harness. Nor to I feel comfortable in that tab holding the harness in place in the even of a hard hit.
I take it your solution is a no drill option?

Someone needs to come up with something that doesn't need drilling, fab work, or any permanent modifications. Something that is just bolt in like replacing stock bolts with eye bolts or adding a mount under a stock bolt, etc.

Gary, you asked a good/knowledgeable question about an anti-submarine strap. I'll tell you what we are doing. Our "Boss 302" logo'd harness kit can be purchased for one or both seats. You will have a choice of Red or Black belts. Each seat will come with the 3" lap belt and 3' shoulder harnesses. The lap belt can be attached to the aforementioned tabs. The shoulder harness can be attached to the harness bar of a roll bar - hopefully ours! Our kit will ALSO include an anti-submarine, 5th-point strap and mounting hardware. If an owner wants to mount this, he/she will be "on their own". The issue is that the OEM seat does not have a provision for a slot for the belt to come through. (A requirement.) An owner could have the OEM seat modified or the OEM seat could be replaced with an aftermarket seat. However, perhaps there is a better (easier) solution - and that is a 6-pt harness. This will be an option that we can provide. Rather than a single "crotch strap" set-up that requires non-trivial mods, a 6-pt system is comprised of a figure-8 kind of hoop that you step into. You step into it and wiggle it up to your upper legs and then you clip it into the same clips as the lap harness. This system WILL work and is the least invasive from a car-modification perspective.

Kendal,If you can find a way to put a sub. strap thru the passenger seat i am up for that. The drivers seat has not been a problem but the large gel pack is on the passenger side. Best for all ypur concerns and help

Agreed. What we have designed is a belt clip tab that will bolt to the back two seat bolts for each seat. We designed the tab in such a way that the same tab will fit in all 4 locations - the (2) back posts in the passenger and drivers seat. We designed a maximum of material thickness while still retaining full thread (strength) engagement of the OEM nut. These brackets can be bolted in and then left in place. The belts can be clipped in and un-clipped quite easy. The brackets allow for full seat travel and will not come into contact with the seat or trim pieces. As such, this is a good solution for the lap belt.

Sounds like a great option Kendall. This validates what a friend of mine (who I consider a genius) came up with for us. We used these Schroth bolt on brackets, that are designed to be bent, and located them over the rear seat posts and under the rear brackets on the Sparco race seats.
I’m trying to picture your setup…….is this how you used that bracket?
And does this then bolt onto either side of the driver’s seat using the rear most bolts?

That's correct Doug. The exception being you use the factory nut over the rear seat bolts rather than the bolt in your picture above. The Schroth bracket sits under the race seat bracket and both are secured down by the factory nut.

whenever I read stuff such as that on the Schroth site, it reminds me of the insane amount of force that you body can be subjected to in an oops at the track. For those that aren't contemplating using a HANS (with, of course, all the requisite hardware and setup to do it right), give that some consideration. I have had a nasty track wreck and I'm pretty darn sure that the HANS saved my *** big time.
