GM tech for 10 years. Lol. Had no problems with the LS platform motors until they started with the fuel saver crap. The LS1 motor is still tough as nails once the valve train has been beefed up a bit. Oiling issues will kill them quick on a road course I'm sure though.

I didnt get to work on any of them.........I know what the pushrod motors are made of.........you can fertilize your garden with them. It took GM a while to get off their wallets and re-introduce nickle back in their casting to keep cylinderwalls from wearing and heads from cracking.

The LS short block and even the heads are a great design and will last forever. But they do have some flaws. It's well built though that short block with an overhead cam set up would be something else.

First post here.
Anyway, this and that, and a have a dozen of the other, as long as Ford comes out on top.
Am I a hard core blue oval fan and very biased towards Brand-X ?
OH HELL YES!!![Box2](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/box2.gif)
By the way I was banned over at Camaro5

![Question](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
On November 15,2011, Camaro5 had a headline that stated the base price of the ZL1 was $54095 and then had a chart that listed the price as $54995. So, I figure the base price is $54995, OK ! Now in the MT article, the base price is listed as $55995. The as tested price is $56465. Why the increase in price ?

there prices, or there has been a wage increase caused by UAW, which
effects costs across the board on everything.

Thats only on the L99, the LS3 doesn't have cylinder deactivation (hence the difference in power between the manual and automatic Camaros)

You can thank your well-spent tax dollars that you're reading this story. Just days after the taxpayer-funded restructuring was approved, Tom Stephens, then head of global product development, called chief engineer Al Oppenheiser and reactivated the program. The ZL1 was alive, but the political sensitivity of the $50 billion bailout meant that its existence would remain hidden. The staff was kept small. Face-to-face meetings replaced e-mails

This is why I agree with Farley. I'd like to take a bat to Chevrolet. Well spent my ***.

Good read! exactly what I was looking for...looks like they did one up the corvette or at least similar performance figures. I'm definitely sold on the magnetic shocks and the zl1 for that matter, but with all of the incentives offered on the vette I'd still choose a grand sport any day of the week.
Here's some old news for some....
http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna_seca.html
interesting how the LS time ranges from 1:39.5. 1:40.21, 1:43.00
and the zl1's only time is a 141:00 It doesn't seem over yet.....

Another glowing review. Seems this car is the biz. Computers and magnets doing the work for the driver. Not sure I'd enjoy it as much on a day to day basis then...

So GM has an a$$load of taxpayer money and $15,000 per car to come up with a car that can sometimes beat the BOSS?
Color me unimpressed.

The reviews are coming fast and furious. So I'm giving the Camaro the track advantage, but wondering about whether it will translate to the street.

And still they come in. Although the C&D report is a bit less "OMG what a Camaro" as the car's warts (viz and fuel mileage) and the upcoming GT500's 650hp take some wind out of the ZL1's sails.

But despite everything GM has put into the ZL1 the Boss didn't fair too badly. While some Camaro fans might rejoice I think they are also pretty worried. The '13 GT500 is looming on the horizon and I think they know their victory lap is going to be pretty short lived.
