2012 Boss 302

At least for the 2010 model year there wasn't the incrimental allocation later in the model year. Most dealers got only one unit, a few of the mega-dealers got multiple units but certainly not the availability that was there in the past couple model years. At least that was our experience at our store.

If the Boss comes in at anything over 45k I doubt I would be interested. Might as well buy a new GT500 at that point. Or better yet, find a leftover or low mileage 2011 GT500. I hope that is not the case though because the Boss 302 is the Mustang I have been holding out for.

Found this interesting tidbit about the 302R today.
Btw, found out at Lime Rock recently that the BOSS302R1s has CNC'd factory heads, hollow sodium-filled valves, racing intake, and some other goodies that might make an SE Street Boss one of the most special cars Ford has done in quite some time ...if you can get one;-)

Anyone watching the Watkins Glen Race heard the commentator mention these engines (302R) need to be tweeked and figured out before hitting the showroom floor.

I hate to say it but if the Boss is not what I think it's going to be, I will be looking elsewhere for a dual purpose track car. I can't remember the last time I owned something other than a Ford.

There are some brand new 2000 Cobra R's showing up on eBay. They appear to be selling for their original sticker price, ~55k$.

Not sure what that means from an equipment standpoint, as it's been mentioned before that the 302R still uses the Coyote block and internals. Obviously the 302R intake is different, but maybe it has specific cams or even heads as well...

Certainly great info!!
While we'd all love to see Ford make an SE Boss 302 based on the 302R R1 race engine, the reality is that if Ford chooses that path, they will likely only manufacture them in Cobra R quantities which will leave most of us out in the cold.
Let's face it, a few hundred of these special detuned 302R's for the street would not benefit the majority of those who really want one. With only a few hundred produced, most would wind up collecting only dust in some collectors garage instead of tearing up the street and track. I know there will be those who argue that such a beast would be a great "halo" vehicle to which I say !?$%&. Ford already has their "halo" vehicle in the GT500. I don't advocate making 20K of these beasts but a minimum run of at least 5K would ensure that most folks who want one get one and keep the price adjustments within reason.
