Nothing wrong with not understanding, but the Foxes are as much of Mustang history as any other era. As since you don't understand . . . no need to try and explain it to you.

I've just never looked at a Foxbody and thought, "hey that's a nice looking car".

As far as the history is concerned, without a doubt, it was alive for 15 years.

Any hint of revisiting that from an aesthetic standpoint would be a huge mistake. There's nothing to take from that car that could be manipulated into something worthy of the Mustang nameplate today.

The only thing worthy to bring into the "now" from that era, they already did with the 5.0.

I agree with you MustangDizzle but I kind of like the last generation. I wouldn't mind at all if Ford took some inspiration from this

I think we need to remember that taking "inspiration" from something can be much more than skin deep. I personally find the Foxbody Mustangs to be incredibly bland, stylistically, but there's more to a Fox body besides how it looks.

The topspeed render has that subdued elegance look. The C&D render looks like the angry step brother. If we could combine the two and maybe add a couple cues from some of TopNotch's renders we could have a winner

The Fox was light, great mod platform, and offered a pretty good rage of models overtime that were pretty significant (5.0, SVO, etc). And it was never too expensive. Id like to see similar attributes with the next gen. Current market pricing to stay competetive (1-3k less than the camaro), lightweight, great mod platform, and add on a solid factory suspension.

Ding ding ding! THIS is what made the Fox a great Mustang. For me, it was all the above despite "not looking like a Mustang".

Was the Fox a standout design for Mustang. Not in my book. Was it the car that probably cemented the Mustang as the ultimate base car on which to mod to your hearts content? And kick off the biggest aftermarket in the world? Absolutely!

It looks like a Mustang to me.

Regardless . . . it is nice Mustang enthusiasts have many different types/styles of "Mustangs" to choose from.

"Worthy?" The new Mustangs (and future) aren't so vaunted that they eclipse their own past.

And me.

But to many non-ethusiasts (especially outside the USA) show them a Fox and they won't realise it's a Mustang.

Me though? Whether it's a Fox, a rusting hulk of a II or a pristine '69 Boss 429, EVERY Mustang deserves its place in the history of the marque........and therefore, deserves the same respect.

I think this is where good options packages could work really well. Just like FRPP does now or Roush. But get some aggressive options and it will completely change that look. But for those of us looking for subtle muscle like the M3 or S5, this is a great starting point.

I think this is a great render and a great starting point for the mustang. To me this still looks like an evolved Mustang. Everyone says look at the 911 and Aston, well, this is it, in Mustang form.

My one complaint about the S197 is how chunky it looks, just over blown in proportions. I think this does a good job of tightening up everything. I know it sounds like I'm complaining but I would still love an S197, especially an 11+.

This could be a great way to get other drivers in the seat. Make it run and drive like stink and there will be drivers.

I wouldn't worry too much. Look carefully at that front fenders length. It doesn't even look logical with consideration to bumper fittings and impact frame.

The remake on the 2013 makes more sense. It was a transition change to the new 2015 to soften the impact and seem more evolutionary. I own a 2013 Fusion, and to be honest, I could think of worse to have a family resemblance to. I think with the right aggressive styling, it could be very good looking car. I remember when the 05 came out, I wasn't thrilled with some of the early renderings. Once the car hit the street, I loved it.

I'm ok from the front wheel arch back but the front needs to change. Too much Fusion, absolutely hate the pulled back headlight surrounds! Looks good on a Fusion but NOT on a Mustang

This is far too watered down but it wouldn't surprise me either if its at least somewhat accurate. Ford tends to be conservative on redesigns and adds flavor over time. Just look at the sn95 new edge refresh and the s197 2010, 2013 refresh. I really hope they don't go that same route this time.. I want sleek aggressiveness right out of the gate. But if all these reports of stunning looks are true then this can't be it......right?

But this isn't supposed to be a simply refresh its supposed to be a redesign like going from SN95 2004 to S197 2005.

And I agree I don't think this is what I would consider "stunning". It definitely seems watered down.
