If you go this route, let me know and I can help you with it all. The only part that might prove interesting is the OEM amp, but I can take you through that as well. Or just get an aftermarket amp like zeroaviation did.

Whatever you decide, good luck.

Would I be able to retain my factory subs (shaker 1000)? Would I keep my seat heaters? And will the HD radio feature work with the new nav?

I am pretty sure about the shaker being retained, but not 100%.

To retain the heated seats (like I did) you must make sure that you get the bezel (with the buttons) and nav with the heated seats. Then there will be no issues.

If you get a nav that came from a car without heated seats, you will need to get the ACM programmed to enable that feature. Talk to United Radio about that - they may be able to do it. If programming works, then you will still need a bezel with the buttons, though. Easier to source one that already has heated seats, though.

As for HD radio, I don't know if I have that. I always just use my phone or ipod.

i updated the first post of this thread since it has become popular.

I may end up trying out this unit in a few months and working thru the bugs if at all possible. but it will be a while before i bother with it.

NinJak - thank you for your time and efforts and keeping us updated with your progress and install of the system!

Thanks. In truth, I considered that...heck I am still considering it...I have not yet sent it back, I am waiting on a RMA. I was thinking of trying to get a root, superuser access, then tear it down and reprogram it. I truly believe with better software programming, it could be a great system. I am just not familiar with these types of Radio Androids as of yet.

Been looking around a couple of sites I use, and I am really considering giving it a go. The hardware is ready as I said. Its just really software. Then I think....hmm 750$ for me to figure it out.... decisions...but if I could......man would it be great !

GAh !

Hi,

I received my ottonavi unit 10 days ago. I installed it but i have too much problem with it.
I spoke with Marty in ottonavi, but after some attempts I don't solve my problem.
Marty said me to do also an upgrgrade frome Hicesan Website( www.hicesan.com) but nothing. (Hicesan is the chinese software productor)
Theese are my problems:

- The minimum volume of fm radio it’s too hight, I cannot stay in the car because the volume is very noisy

- When I use navi or other app I listen fm-radio on background ever (with a low level of volume), this is annoying because two sound go one other the other.

- Stearing wheel control of phone doesn’t work, I cannot set it by app

- The unit cannot connect to wify or mobile hot spot

- External temperature displayed is crazy: -121°C!

- I don’t have rear camera but every time I use reverse the screen became all blu. I cannot disable retrocamera fuction

- The volume of usb music, navigation system,… is very low respect of FM RADIO. To hear it I must increase the volume but if I accidentally return to radio without reducing the volume I risk of a heart attack due to high volume.

- If i put in a usb-pen, usb app start automatically but I cannot return to navi, fm radio or main menu even if I detach usb pen

- Sometimes it appears on the screen the car imagine witch indicates REAR DOOR OPEN!!! I don’t have rear door. It seems as the unit has some problems with canbus

- The leds of climate control or windows defroster or… have the brightness very low. It rather . it’s almost impossible to see if they are activated or not. Can i increase their brightness?

I requested an RMA, probably tomorrow i sent it back to Ottonavi. I'm very unhappy because i like this unit very much, but unfortunately it doesn't work.
I hope they refund me the price of the unit.

Marco

Yes, I know what you mean. I had the exact same issues with my unit, though my Hotspot worked fine. I did a video and explain all of these EXACT same issues to OttoNavi.:
The canbus phantom trunk/rear/door....
The leds of climate, everything in Celsius,
The volume of FM compared to USB, (actually I think if you use the sliders in the sound menu, it may help. I think the top one is fr the radio, and the middle is for USB..)
Steering wheel controls....

All of these things I did explain and spoke to them about. Perhaps if enough people complain, they will look more closely into these issues. Also be mindful that they do not try to hit you with a 20% restocking fee. Its on their website, though Marty says they would not do that. I payed through paypal, so I opened a paypal ticket.....just in case they tried to pull that card. They will want to send you another unit, but take my advise. If your first was this way, the second will be too. I already gone this route, and it seems that they are not quite up to fixing the issues.

although I already have my own nav/radio system setup installed and wasn't planning on changing it, I am disappointed how this turned out and was hopeful that this would be a nice solution.
