otto navi?

Anyone installed one of these? I want one but dont know if I should go this route or not.

I cannot find ANYTHING on these other than that they are Chinese knockoffs of the real thing as far as looks and basic function. BUT these are android !

everything I find on them is written by otto-navi or someone whos associated with them. I want a review by someone that has no affiliation with otto-navi at all

****UPDATE**** (since there are so many pages)

Ninjak had bought this unit to try it out and update us. The first unit he bought was very nice but had a few issues - so it was sent back for another, the 2nd one had more issues than the first. Software crashes and a buzzing noise in his speakers, also the fast forward steering wheel control was not working and a few other issues you can find on page 8. Ninjak is giving up on this system. Otto Navi has a very very helpful tech staff but were unable to resolve the issues. Otto Navi has plans to keep working on the system (so they say) but as for now. Ninjak will be going a different route.

they say its plug and play and everything.... so i guess i'd go back to my original plan of a metra or scosche kit (which i cant find anywhere) and appradio 2 with ARliberator (full android control) OR a jailbroken iphone with Appradio extensions...

but this otto navi system looks so freakin sweet! - the company that sells them is based out of California, but I'm surprised that no one has these or has posted about these since the 2010-13 mustang has been out.

haha well.... the company that sells them might be "American" as far as being located in the states etc, but I am still expecting the production to be a 50/50 chance of it being great or absolutely suck.

I went to amazon.com and searched otto navi for reviews there and found some. I think Perfect FIT Alpine or the appradio thing i want to do may be the best choice for me afterall.

heres the review I saw for someone who bought it for a challenger.

Trust me, dont get the AppRadio either. I waited for the 2, got it for the wife b/c she wanted a better radio and we have iPhones, plus Im a Pioneer fan, but its garbage. Nothing really works well. That navi system looks sweet though. Id pretty much given up on the current offerings but if this thing works well...

Those are some pretty scathing reviews.

Scoshe, Metra or Alpine would be a lot safer. But if it is the OEM look you are after, you can put in a factory nav as 10MustangGT said. Would be half as much as Alpine's new unit.

I'm waiting for the unit on the right to be released and pair that with one of the 2013 Kenwood units with the Maestro interfaces.

I was contemplating this same thing. I wouldn't trust it. They probably use the cheapest Android tablets available. The ones that you can get on eBay for $50-75. I've seen reviews from others that have used the products and they said they were satisfied and it was definitely plug and play http://priuschat.com/threads/my-otto...erience.97121/.

I think I am going to go the traditional aftermarket route. Crutchfield has double din Pioneer DVD head units with bluetooth starting at $350, the Metra kit is $200, and all the additional wiring harnesses to utilize the steering wheel controls costs about $150 more. So for about the same price, you can get all the same functions as the OttoNavi device but something way more reliable. You won't have nav, but a lot of the head units have apps that can piggyback off your phone with things like Google Maps, Pandora, and FB. $700+ is a lot too gamble with. I would also be worried about leaving the device in your car for extended periods of time during the summer. The device could be amazing, but I know that Pioneer and other companies have awesome products that are super reliable. I had my last pioneer head unit for 3+ years before I sold it my truck. Not a single problem at all.

It's really annoying that the audio manufactures haven't caught up to 2013. Android is free. 100% free. It includes GPS navigation, internet, bluetooth audio, etc etc etc. Start there with a decent tablet (Nexus 7 is $150) and then integrate it into my Sync/Steering wheel for $300 or less and you'll see record sales.
