How would you have the set up look/retain that OEM look.

rooting doesn't hurt anything, just makes the open source software openly modifiable again.

Yeah, all day long. Just create a backup of the stock OS.

This is like having a windows XP laptop in 2013 and wanting to put Windows 7 on it. Not the most recent either, but close enough.

That's my best analogy of Gingerbread. it's like having an XP computer when everyone else has windows 7. yeah XP works just fine, but it's old and outdated.

In truth I am not sure. My Shelby was in the shop for slite body work, and a sensor replacement. Since I got it back, I had a advancetrack warning out of no where that fixed itself, last night while idling I had something weird happen as well. The Advance track issue happen BEFORE the install. The issue last night happen while I was fiddling with the canbus software box....So I am not sure. The issue went away though and did not come back. I am going to give them a call on the CAmbus box.

I also called OttoNavi and when asking them if I could possibly update the system...they shot me down and said "Yes BUTTT rooting/jailbreaking/hacking radio will void your one year warranty. So I was wondering if anyone knows what could possibly go wrong trying to update the software os
Well I would say that you do not need to be tech savy to use this system. Out of the box everything works. It works pretty well. me being me, I just see ways to improve or change things...I cannot help myself. The apps they load work, but IMO some of them are not that great visually. Do they do the job ? Yes they do. But I just wanted to change it up.

As far as rooting and updating, I think I will wait for them. They seem to be committed to this project and talking the the engineer, I think they want to get ahead of the market and be out front. With the hardware it comes on its no reason why it could not run 4.0 if done correctly. The more I tear into it, the more I am starting to understand just how they did this setup.

There are a few little things.....things that you get from a android system even on your phone. But nothing that is enough to take away from it working. I think with the feedback I am giving them as well as a few others, they will fine tune it better. I know the new set of instructions are EONS ahead of what it came with.

EX: Grounding the pick wire will allow video play back at all times.....I wondered what that wire did. As it stands now the only true outstanding issue I have is the led light not lighting up when I push the AC button. They have sent me a UPS slip to do a return, and have them send me a unit they have test and know it works. The other thing I want to know about or have explain better is the steering wheel control. I have some things working, but again I am greedy. I think I can make ALL of the buttons work. Keep in mind, even on the Alpine, now every steering button will work.

For what it does, and how it is setup, I think it will be fine. Will they support it ? I believe so. Will I keep my unit ? Yes I will. Is it for everyone ? I would say maybe so, maybe not. Its not a traditional radio setup for sure. So things like Siruis and XM radio will work a little different. Your Ipod will work, but will work a little different. No more Sync..... If you can live with that your good. If not, then a traditional radio may be the better way to.

Another thing from poking around XDA is that OttoNavi is just a rebrander here for US markets. That same unit has like 5 or 6 different brand names for the same hardware.

check XDA, I read the thread just a few days ago.

Doubt it will be that simple. The seat heater control probably works through the body control module and will take some doing to make that work.

Two buttons are there, but I believe as it was said it will take some programing. I am still trying to grasp where the havoc controls were run. They seem to be working on a uodate as they have been collecting a lot of data. I guess we will see.

Update ??? I have lost count

Well here is another update:

I spoke with Marty today at length. We went over many many things and he took notes. We discuss bugs, glitches, and what could be improved and what could not. I also found out a lot about how the system was designed. Interesting stuff to be sure. Some of the things discuss was:

1.The OS(of course)
2. Apps
3 What should be default and what should not be default App wise
4.Flow of the system
5. Why the BT dialer sucks (Visually)
6. Better steering app, (Though mines may be bugged)

Marty said that he was going to take some of these concerns to the programmers and engies, and get back to me. They are very interested on how people perceive the system and I believe they are following this thread.

Some of my final thoughts: (or close to it)
I like it. I am now in the middle of moving my music library to a 1t passport drive, and use it in my car. I think it will work better than my nano. I did finally figure out how to load my playlists, but I think I will try this method instead. Using google music, I should be able to easily get it all there.

I have cleaned removed, used all type of apps to get this the way I wanted, and after today I realize some things cannot be changed...for now. In truth I believe I could root it and change default apps, but I'll wait to see what Marty comes back with. Overall it still flows decently and with my screens set, it is now easy to navigate around. I have to close out their music program and just open my Rocket Music player (very nice BTW, has a 10 band EQ !)

The other Apps for Nav and other things all work well. Truth when I am in car, I basically listen to the radio, Sat, or my Playlists. I looked to upgrade because I wanted Nav as well. This unit does it well and has the OEM lok I wanted. Sure a few things could be done better but overall I am pleased. Ging to finish getting some things set, then do some vids.

Then lol I need to take it out repack it, so I can get a replacement that the HAVOC led lights work on. (Yes I am being a bloody ars about those lights !)

The Shaker Pro will work. The rca's would plug into the RCA's on the system. Remember you can run amps with this. When they premium, they are talking about BOSE or JBL speaker systems that come in some cars.

The comfort system I think they are working on with a new system with 4.0 got a lot but I could hear a guy in the background going SHHHHH......

Yeah, but I don't even know for sure that the Shaker Pro actually uses RCAs.

The Pro has a sub correct ? In the rear? Well one to see is to just pull your front panel off, and remove your faceplate. Then you can see it. Its truly not hard to do. If it does not have RCA's then there has to be a controller for the Sub somewhere. The Shaker 500 has amps the harness can control them So I guess the pro should be no different sans extra RCA's

Dual climate control. I do not have the comfort package, but I know it will do all except heated seats, and dual comfort zone. Everything works on my Shelby with the regular package, including auto air.
