J2534 is a protocol form software to VCM communications. It allows you to write custom software against any J2534 compatible device. (and visa versa) This is a key achievement if it works.

Thanks Matt.

Jim, Hines got me set straight installing software...I was doing things out of order somehow. Hines is a pretty smart dude lol....I'm impressed how quickly he had his installed and seems knowledgeable about it like he is a Ford Tech lol. Thanks again Hines.

It seems like a nice unit, looks like it could be a legit piece(it's not tho). You can't tell the difference.

Looks like there are many things that you could do with it...Automated brake bleeding looks cool. Tire size correction and axle change the way the dealer would do it if you don't have a handheld programmer. Although it might be easier with the SCT X3.

I'll try to get into the cluster swap soon definitely by the end of the weekend..Sorry I get so swamped unfortunately.

Zero, are there later versions of the IDS? Thought I saw 88 or ver. 89? Not that it matters but I thought always best to use the latest versions...Or are we stuck with 86 because of the type of IDS software we have?...I was afraid to try the update software since we have a "special" version of IDS

I'll have you another version if not by tonight then by mid morning sat. We will throw some debugging in there and see what the hangup is.

Yes, But i'm not sure if the clone VCM will support newer versions.

When you change the IDS version, it uploads new firmware into the VCM.

You could test it and see, but it could brick your VCM. Maybe ask the seller and see?

I am very happy with my clone. Last night I flashed my ACM, SJB and BCM around 20 times. I did AS-Built Loads, I did PMI's, I did Module Reprogramming and all worked with no errors. Of course .. Haven't messed with PCM yet.

Unfortunately I think I need to give up on getting my radio to silence during the parking assist beeps. I tried no less than 8 difference car's AS-BUILT and nothing works.

2012 AS-BUILT data does nothing
2013 AS-BUILT data turns off my Subwoofers .. but the radio does low volume for parking beeps.

Perhaps if I can find a 2013 with factory Trunk Subwoofer and reverse sensors that AS-BUILT would work. Hmmm ... need to go find a VIN.

I'm also deliberating buying a 2013 PCM if Matt can't get a 2012 PCM to Flash properly with 2013 code.

I think you are correct in thinking that the radio issue may not be resolvable with a 12 ACM.

I'm going to need ajpturbo's help with getting the 12 PCM flashed to 13. I'll be sending him a PM shortly.

Also, we will need to get the J2534 working on the clone VCM. If not I will have to ship you some hardware to use.

Rear Park assist was an option on my 2012 so no idea why it wouldn't work. Jim is using a 2010 ACM in his car and he is saying it works .. which is really strange. He is gonna double check that its actually lowering the volume. Jim said he did not update his 2010 ACM and its working.

I think it might be a difference in Firmware. Which is fixable. But I have been known to be wrong on several occasions

Another mission accomplished. I decided to try a 2014 VIN that had a SHAKER PRO. Figured that AS-BUILT should support both SUB outs in the back of the ACM. Apparently when a car has a reverse sensor the SUB outs are swapped in the wiring harness.

So the standard SHAKER AS-BUILT must have been turning on the SUB output in the wrong connector. By using an AS-BUILT that has Front and Rear Subs ... all of the SUB connectors are active. I also did a ACM module replacement using the same VIN as the AS-BUILT.

So now I have Sub-Woofer output and my Volume lowers when the rear sensor beeps.

JIM010 .. when you get your VCM I'll end you the VIN so you can fix your ACM also.

Well done sir!

Dhmines just confirmed that the J2534 interface on the clone VCM is fully working. This makes this unit a beyond super buy at $200. If you have been on the fence, get off and buy one!

Are you doing the cluster swap?

In short, it allows you to use Ford's Integrated Diagnostic System. This is the exact same software the your typical Ford dealer uses to diagnose issues, and do PATS operations. Pretty much, you can diagnose and fix your own car after your warranty is up. No more trips to the stealership.

The J2534 part of it allow folks (like me) to write software against the VCM in a generic way. I'm working on a short little app to share with ever that will pull critical data etc. (Dhmines has been beta testing alpha builds)

One thing that pisses me off about Ford is how they have locked us out of our own cars. I'm going to make it my job to reverse engineer every piece and put the power back in the peoples hands. (OpenXC is a joke)
