Well, I've certainly plunked a bit into this, but I do find it worth it for the high tech feel it gives along with the OEM nav. Track Apps and the digital guages won't work (except oil pressure and volts). Dmhines and I are working on the Track Apps, though.

Remember that the cruise won't work right either, but I have a possible solution that I will have worked out by the weekend.

Keep in mind Jim is referring to the swap into a 2012 ... I think everything should work and cost less money to swap into a base 2013/2014.

Once all is said and done and everything is (hopefully) finally working .. I do want to forgot how much $$$ and time I have into this endeavor. I could have used the money for a down payment on a 2014 Stingray!

On a side note, I was going to buy an the Rotunda IDS scan tool for about 500 and they have an option for a temporary license of 72 hours for something like 36 bucks.....But then I find out that on the newer cars you have to register and pay for a license for the NAFTA or NAFTS which is what allows you to do the pats relearn.

So I called the NAFTS people and they only let businesses' and companies get that capability, which I think is BS, I own the car not them.

So I gave up on it...I just wanted to be able to do a crank relearn and experiment with the as built stuff if there were multiple methods.

I had assumed that anyone could but and license the hardware and software to work on the car. It does **** me off that we own our cars .. but we really don't own them. I'm surprised there is no software contract with new cars where you have to sign a form agreeing not to backward engineer or hack into the computer systems and software.

If Ford does not readily make the tools and programs available to people like us to work on OUR PRIVATELY OWNED VEHICLES .. then I think a CLass Action Lawsuit would be in order.

I thought you only need this:

Amazon.com: Ford VCM II IDS V84 OEM Level Diagnostic Tool support 2013 Ford Vehicles OBD2 Scanner FORD IDS VCM 2: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Ford VCM II IDS V84 OEM Level Diagnostic Tool support 2013 Ford Vehicles OBD2 Scanner FORD IDS VCM 2: Car Electronics

and the IDS software you can license from MotorCraft.

I sort of get it for warranty purposes in that they don't want to be responsible for changes to the car not performed by them so they are not on the hook financially or legally, but they certainly do leave us hanging high and dry if we wanted to mod after warranty is gone and Ford's responsibility to the car is finished.

Yea hines that is what I was going to buy also. But you need to activate the license and pay money. You get like a key code to activate the software...But the Pats is a completely different license and registry...I guess it's an attempt to deter people from making new keys and defeating the Pats stuff, I dunno really.

But it pisses me off that I have to go to the dealer to do a crank relearn and to change a cluster

If you have the scan tool you can do as built data transfer and crank relearn and probably a bunch of other stuff but not the PATS stuff

I like class action lawsuits...This is America damnit lol..It does seem wrong that you are essentially forced to go to a dealer to perform repairs...Is that really grounds for legal action?

Well, if you ever get the equipment, let us know, as you might be able to help with some debugging.

There are videos online of techs showing you how to program keys. They use IDS and a VCM .. nothing else ...

Hines do you have a link for those vids?..I think it's just for maybe the 12's and on...You may be able to do the keys and cluster as built stuff but the PATS you have to have to register with that nafta group

I do know FORD did not have PATS in the Cluster until 2010 in the Mustangs .. Prior to 2010 you could just swap the cluster and car would start up no problem.

Here are some video's including the key programming ... Perhaps doing a Cluster RElearn to the PCM requires additional software like you say.

Just put in the new abs module. Track Apps is fully functional, but I get the abs and traction control warning lights on the cluster blinking.

I have to get the as built data put in, which I am having a hard time connecting with my tech guy.

ABS and traction control are both blinking. Nothing is solid.

Here is that pats info and nastf group. It say CERTAIN vehicles from 2013. So I don't know if that means mustang or not...It really pisses me off just to read it..

I almost bought the VCM 2 and IDS license...The software is free to download but is useless until you get the keycode when you buy the license.

I was just making sure of what I needed. Then I saw that nastf stuff and called them to see about registering and they told me I couldn't. I asked the guy who had authority to let me register and he said someone at ford, so I asked who? He said someone high up in ford but had no idea who..I love the complexity of corporate America.
