I cut and buffed the hood and fenders I painted, turned out pretty decent for a basement paint job! It will still require a fine polish but so far so good.

This project has interested me from the start, since I have wondered why Ford hasn't dropped the 3.5 Ecoboost in the Mustang already. I'm also wondering if anyone makes turbo chargers for the current V-6, and if it would be as involved as an engine swap.
I think your doing what Ford should have done with the 2015/16 Mustang instead of the 2.0 Ecoboost. I'd really like to see how this turns out and how it performs.

The 3.7 V6 in the current is the same block as the 3.5 ecoboost, if you swapped the heads you can use the exhaust manifolds which have the turbos bolted to them. You have to swap the heads because I've read that the manifolds will not bolt up to the 3.7 heads. From what I understand the ecoboost heads will bolt right up though. The downside is that you don't get the forged internals that come with the ecoboost so your HP would be limited to what the 3.7 crank and rods can handle. If you swap the heads and add an ecoboost control pack you could use the direct injection, the high pressure fuel pump is mounted to the head. This wouldn't be necessary though, I would stick with the factory MPI just for simplicity.

It has a glass roof, which I'm pretty stoked about. Lexiion and I both have nearly 2 weeks off at the end if this month so I would think some significant progress will be made then. I'm hoping we get it started during this time.

The 2.7 V6 EcoBoost is rated at 325 hp, so not much of an upgrade, at least in most people's eyes.
I can see a 350-hp version of it being introduced soon, but not in the Mustang, at least not for another few years.
MPG-wise it really wouldn't do much better than a DI Coyote, especially if the Mustang will finally get some weight reduction soon, like aluminum body or whatever.

I need a new windshield since the original was cracked in the accident, the corner of the hood was shoved back in to the glass. I was thinking of going with lexan to save some weight but will cost me approx $500 more than a glass windshield once it's installed. I haven't found what the weight savings for this swap so I don't think it's going to be worth it. If it's 10 lbs it's probably not worth it, if it's 20 lbs I would think about it. Ill email this company to get the weight of the polycarbonate windshield.

Would a lexan windshield be legal for a street car?
Windshields a lot of the times have to hold in an airbag as it's opening, especially on the passenger side, so they have to meet certain standards, besides just being able to see through it

Not the lexan I sent the link for, it's got a special coating inside and out that prevents scratching. At their sema display they had the windshield wipers on with steel wool under each wiper. No scratches. It's about $200 more than a standard lexan windshield.

This is what I got back from optic armor....
A 3/16 windshield weighs 12lbs and a 1/4 weighs 14lbs. The factory windshield weighs 29lbs. The biggest reason for choosing 1/4 over 3/16 is the mph rating. If the car sees over 150mph it is recommended to run 1/4. Factory glass thickness is 3/16"
