FRPP CMDPs - Worth it? I might purchase some after Christmas. I've heard 5-8 HP to the wheels.

Get the cheaper Ford FRPP version (this is what I have).... they are almost identicle to the expensive Steeda Billet, they just arent billet aluminum.

Yea but not very efficient when you put them in a car that ways as much as we do. The only reason they have been able to get the MPG out of the corvette is because its light.

Pushrods will always be faster though for now

Not so much... OHCs are more efficient the pushrods. Anyday...

That engine is 1.6 liters larger than the 4.6... 1.6 is the size of a small 4 cyl. Think about the Super Snake.. it has 5.4 and you can get it with 725hp (The LS9 is rated at 630hp... ) Smaller engine and more HP. Where the vette wins is in the weight war. The Shelby is a fat girl...

I do have to give it to the Chebby... They have pushed the push rod engine to the limit.

Your right on OHC vs OHV but I still like the push rods 5.0 and 5.8 got to love those motors. Chevy still compares apples to oranges

What I meant was.... THE FASTEST DRAGSTER IN THE WORLD IS A PUSHROD ENGINE....sure you can make a smaller engine fast...but it does has limitations.....at the end of the day... when your trying to get 8,000hp for drag racing purposes a pushrod is where you will look...that was my point

also pauly you said that chevy has pushed the pushrod to the limit?? Chevy's pushrod or pushrod engines in general? again 8,000 HP out of a screaming dragster? chevy is hardly pushing the limits with 400hp in their base-model, 550 in the Z06 and somewhere in the 700hp range in the ZR1 (with a supercharger)....thats hardly pushing the limits of a "pushrod" engine, bigger cubes....forced induction....and a substitute fuel and your on your way to making some power...

Maybe I misunderstood you... or you misunderstood me? DOHC and OHC will always be more effiecient...but for power purposes at the end of the day...a pushrod with its inefficiency will still put that OHC DOHC in its place when its properly built.

I'm talking in production based cars... Engines that will last more than one or two trips down the 1/4 mile. Real life.

Don't get me wrong I do miss my 302 and 351s.... Could rebuild those in my sleep.
