Howdy, some may know of me but most probably not.Iwas reading this post and others and I see there is concern about the numbers from the Dynapac.I have run 2 cars across Kurtis's dyno that had been run before. The first one was a 07 Shelby and it actually was a little low on H.P. but the Torque numbers where better.I attribute that to not over powering the roller. The problem with a Dynojet is you are actually testing the roller.Once you get it spinnig it has a mind of it's own.Centrifugal force takes over and the roller actually starts to push the wheels. The Dynapac loads the drivetrain. The second car is a 97 Cobra blower car.We ran this on Chris's dyno,it just ran it ragged. This car is Violent like no ther I have built at this H.P. level. It made 642 H.P. and 532 torque. On the dynapac it made 663 and 560.I think the increase is because you can actually load the drivetrain vs the the wheels spinning on the Dynojet.Yes this car is that violent. The nice thing about the dynapac is it is controllable. We never noticed a lean condition the the jet because this thing revs from 5k to 7k in nano seconds on the Dynojet. With the Dynapac we could load it from 5 to 7 and noticed the injectors where done.100% duty cycle.I must admitt when I first layed eyes on the Dynapac I was skeptical, but after working with it...I'm a believer.Yes it is more diffacult to set up,but the benefits of controllabilty far outway the set-up time.In time I think you could do 8 to 10 cars a day.Sorry for rambling just my two cents.I build several cars a year and I am very pleased to be able to work with this Dyno and Facility. Please be patient with Kurtis as I been where he is at recently,Swamped with work and trying to move into a new facility is not easy and can chew up alot of time. He's a great guy, with great morals.

I am one to trust history over anything else. Dynojet has historically been the number one go to dyno for a lot of reasons. Yes it has its cons...but it also has its pros. For someone that jumps around alot as far as dynoing different places... a dynojet would be more consistant as far as numbers go (of course this is my opinion). You can add so many variables and adjustments and loads with a dynapack which makes it very difficult to judge improvement if you dont use kurtis's dyno with the exact same adjustments and variables he used last time. Its hard to see improvment if you jump to another dynapack (with a different tuner)..due to tuners makeing their own load adjustments and inputs.

For example... I go to kurtis for a dyno...he loads the dynapack makes some adjustments...I make 3 runs and there is my baseline.

I drive to Texas or Missouri and jump on one of the hundreds of dynojets across the country... my numbers will be WAY off..due to many factors.

For me if I ran on a dynojet here in tulsa...and recieved my baseline...then drove to texas or missouri and ran on the same type of dynojet... i would be within 1% of my results from Tulsa. That is the advantage in my eyes. I dont want to be confined to one type of dynojet and tuner to view my improvements. They have been tuning cars on dynojets for a good many years now..and its served well. YES the dynapack may be a great tuning tool and have many Pros, BUT for some it doesnt really fit with their agenda. Ya know?

Maybe my mind will be changed once I meet kurtis and see how the dynapack runs and kurtis's tuning abilities. I dont know...but for where im at right now...I need consistency.

You did mention yours revs in nanoseconds on a Dynojet.... that is a problem on a dynojet...but unlike you I am only just over 300rwhp and my car does not have that problem hehe (I WISH IT DID )....so seeing a lean condition at high RPMs is easier to see on mine with a dynojet then a Beast like yours.

Thanks for posting.... more information about specific products or systems is always welcome! Especially from a new face! Glad you made it here...stay a while

Jarrod,
I agree with you on many points.Yes Dynojet is a "standard" that is repeatble pretty much nationwide. For me I am a builder here local and I am looking for gains, not really clad numbers because in my opinion the SAE correction is really only good for N/A cars because of no corrections for boost variances due to humidity.I posted just let people know that the numbers are not as skewd as many think.I do a fair amount of dyno runs so I hope I can be of help if needed.Glad to be here.

Good information...... Ill hold judgement until I know more about it. I am very skeptical at this point...but thats normal for someone that hasnt seen, been around, or heard about the dynapack. There are those that dont trust the dynapacks. I guess it all comes down to the tuner not the machine.

Question: How does the dynapack compensate for wheel size (ie tuning for real street application?) your bolting up to the axles, but there is a big difference between 17'' wheel tire combo then lets say a 20''. thats rotational weight and mass taken away. Can you adjust the load to compensate or does it really mater?
