Lower Billet Grille for the GT/CS??
GT/CS Lower Grille
I'm so glad I found your thread. Im looking for something too. The closest I have been able to find is to buy some mesh from mrbodykit.com and attach inside the lower valance.
Here's the link. Just scroll all the way to the bottom. I have not bought this yet, but it seems like the best option.

Looking good! Is the jack up under the K-Frame? I ask because I didn't know it was a valid jacking point...
By way of a suggestion, once y'all get the machining right, wouldn't it be easier/cheaper (on raw material as well as on machine bits), to make this thing out of plastic? It could potentially also cut out one step in the finishing process...the painting/powdercoating.

Have not priced out the cost of sheet plastic of the thickness we need, but there are other issues where plastic will not work. Like bending it to match the bumper.
Looking at the size of the opening, in the future there will be a sagging issue with that lower front end. using alum. this will act as a brace and hold the lower chin spoiler up to prevent sagging.
Many things to look at. As for the machine bits...alum does not phase them very much. not like carbon steel or SS. Also don't know if you could get as nice of finish from milled plastic as you would from coated alum. Will have to check into it.
We are hurring, but not rushing it. we want a quality product not a whipped out p.o.s.
I want this on my car too...LOL
I just got off the phone with Shelby and they are now saying it won't be available until the 2nd week of December. I asked if they had got a price figured out yet and the answer was no. I told them to hurry up because there are alot of us out here that want to get this on our Christmas list!!

Just got back from the machinist, the prototype is done in rough form. We have fitted it on my car and looks good. We are now working on mounting brackets. At the moment it takes about a half hour in a CNC machine to mill the grill only. Any faster and we start warping the material. He is working on programming the machine for the brackets, after that we will start working on finishing the pieces to see what looks good.
things are moving along!

Dougxox,
I just joined the forums tonight and ordered my 2008 GT/CS last Saturday. I would also be interested in the lower grill that you are working on, so sign me up if you don't mind!!
Thanks,

Got you on the list Terry. thanks and welcome to the forum, its a great place. Try to post some pic of the candy apple red in a CS, that would look great when you get it in... Congrats!
Will get some black paint on the proto type and set it in place to get some photos in the next day or two. give a better idea of what it would look like.
Oh BTW this piece will also fit the Shelby GT!!!

Hi Dougxox, I have been watching this thread for a little while now. I just picked up my car on Monday (and yes I will get pictures posted in the next day or so). Add me to the list of people interested in the grill. One added suggestion for the grill. Add mounting points for a front license plate. I already have my tags, but am keeping my temp tags on for as long as possible so that I can do more research on how to mount the tag without drilling holes. Thanks

took the proto type and shot it with some black spray paint and shoved it into the lower opening. Here are some shots in raw alum. before the paint and one after. Javdog and Musthave, got you on the list.
I have thought about a licence bracket but one project at a time. I think there is enough room between the honeycomb to slip a bar inbetween for a bracket. there is another thread on a removable bracket that will fit the CS. will try to find the link and post it.

Dougxox, Love the look on your stang, add me to the list, I need some protection down there also.
I purchased a license plate bracket that clamps to the front bumper, no drilling required. mmaudigras is selling them on ebay for about $45. (sorry I dont know how to do that link thing yet)
Great thread, thanks for the hard work you and your friend are doing for our cause.

here is the link on the licence plate bracket:

check out page 12.
I do not know if it will work with the grill yet, I need to do some research on it ( like buying one) .
Edit:
After a PM and some measuring, that bracket will not work with this girll. Sorry. Gee sounds like another project.
As for the finale price, not yet, a lot depends on how long it takes to run on the machine and cost of materials. Right now still in the proto type stage, we keep making changes so the time keeps changing. We have the major part of the design taken care of and are now working on mounting it. Also the mounting bracket design has changed about 4 times since we began the project. All for the better, making it easier to attach and less visiable but also providing extra strength.
Looking at the photos of the proto type, kinda liked the shot in silver insted of black. Looking at a brushed look or polished version also. Thoughts?
Mid life and Fordydan, youre on the list... I will keep the list going and PM everyone when its ready.
