Sorry for the delay, but my machinist friend (???) bailed on me.
He likes making prototypes and one off's, but hates doing production work. so at the moment I am working on getting bids to do the production work. Good news is all the prototype work is done ( the little tedious stuff that costs a fortune when out sorcing it ) The bad news is spending the time to send off drawings and wait for bids and see what type of work they do and meet the cost restraints I am looking for.
then add in the holidays, a busy time for me and a down time for the machine shops.
patients all, I am still working on it.

Id like to get one of these too. I hoped the project would be complete before I took delivery of my car. I hope it is still progressing.

Or you could get the brake ducting kit like these guys have.......

They have some nice stuff.

Doug -I think I would be also one of the many interested parties in getting the lower grill. As you can see my AC Condensor is right out in the open and I am a daily driver in Connecticut. Thanks for your persistance.

Doug,
Sign me up for the lower grill. Your idea about the permanent attachment of the lower grill is RIGHT ON the money ! Thank you for your insight in protecting our ac condensers.

I would be interested in one of the lower grilles too. I like how it matches the stock grill. I currently have my plate mounted in the opening to help protect the AC condensor.

Well I have been working with someone to get this done, someone who is very well respected on the forums and they have agreed to go ahead with the project. It will be somewhat out of my hands but that may also be for the better but I have some input on it.
check out the latter posts in the link by water junky in the above post. Around post #41.
Thank you Marcello of Silverhorse Racing to pick up where things have left off.
We have been talking for months on this project even when it was my project localy but since the local guy bailed on my I decided to go with the best.

Cal Special Lower Grill Insert SHELBY HAS THEM !!

  1. I was looking through the 2008 Shelby Winter 2008 catalog. On page 21, the Lower Grill Insert is shown for the Shelby GT, Shelby GT-H and our California Special cars. Recommend using rivets for installation.
  2. Polished Aluminum Part # FD-GRILL- 270-02 $79.95
  3. Gloss Black Part # FD-GRILL- 270-03 $74.95
  4. Phone number Shelby Performance Parts 702-405-3500
  5. Scott Drake and Carroll Shelby are co-founders of Shelby Performance Parts.
  6. www.shelbyperformanceparts.com
  7. Hope this information helps !

Guess that would be fine if you want the horizontal bar look, I am looking for more of a OEM look. If it looks anything like the one on the Shelby GT where it attaches over the factory grill ( still able to be seen through the new grills ) I will pass.

The lower grill I ordered from Shelby is the black insert that fills the opening in the lower part for the California Specials. The new part will protect the ac condenser from debris that reflects from the road and damages the ac condenser.
