I just pulled this off of the Ford site;

5.0L V8 cam torque-actuated Ti-VCT 420* horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque

* Based on preliminary testing. Pre-production model shown.

Easy, they just made the pistons a little less smaller so there wouldn't be all that scraping against the cylinder walls. That creates so much friction!

I suspect they will never tell because the answer would be "nothing".

Trust me, don't bet on this one.

Can't believe everyone is so worked up over this. When Ford states why people will be like "Oh" lol

Mustangs & Fast Fords has an article in their Feb. issue in which they engine dyno a 5.0 and get 448HP and 405TQ. A few others have also done engine dynos and have had similar results. Pretty much in line with the chasis dyno numbers we've seen. Looks to me like the power was always there to begin with.

Well the last engineer I talked to said that they didn't do anything except put it on the dyno again this year. I'm inclined to believe him over internet rumors.

If I'm loosing 8hp due to friction maybe the #8 piston is the culprit.

Actualy it all sunk in.

For the 3v motor they revised the ecu and upped the redline from 6250 to 6500. The engine was rated @ 320hp in the bullit. Major change was the ecu then.

For the new 2013 model they added a bunch of electronics to supply data to the dash lcd. I bet they put in a more powerful ecu that takes better advantage of the sensors. Put that together with the fact that ignition timing on the current 5.0L nets very little gains at the risk of having #8 & #6 blow. Tuners have been learning that the way to tune the coyote has been to change the VVT values.

I bet they upped the Redline RPM's as well as changed the vvt timing. I bet another 250rpm could account for the extra 8hp if not more.

Ah, yes, an "engineer." I love how everyone has sources tied to Ford with such loose lips. The car will be released in a few months and I'm confident someone will tear into the updated Coyote soon thereafter. All will be revealed then; I'm sure of it.

315HP/325#' on 87 (+10#'low-mid torque on prem w/Advance Spark Ignition system) - due to CAI w/hoodliner & tune, revised harmonic balancer for 6500 redline.

Which further promotes the fact that the 2013's extra 8hp comes from the FRPP Pro-Cal....which in turn disables the skip-shift.

OK, it may not actually be the Pro-cal tune, but it is a re-flashed tune compared to the 2012's!

I have skimmed most of the information on the refresh but I still haven't spotted the details on the motor changes.
Guys, it's already there. Check this out: http://www.onlymustangfords.com/coyo...dyno-test.html
